Original job description

Company Description

Citizen is a global integrated PR agency that gives ambitious brands the curiosity, confidence and courage to stay ahead of trends, make bold moves & maximize measurable success. We wake up each morning inspired to make every conversation count, partnering with clients to grow their brands and positively impact culture. Across offices and disciplines, this is our single-minded mission.

We know our name comes with a responsibility - to our fellow Citizens inside our walls and around the globe. We live by the values of the Modern Citizen: one who is courageous, builds up rather than breaks down, and puts their efforts towards conversations that count. Conversations that inform, educate, or make life easier for our fellow citizens. We believe that conversation leads to action, and action leads to impact.

Transparency matters to us. For this role, you can expect a salary between $125,000-150,000 annually, depending on experience

As a Senior Director (PR), you are:

Strategic Program Development - You are a leader in the agency's strategic program & campaign development. You bring together diverse teams to achieve outstanding results.
Client & Account Stewardship - You are a client-facing leader who takes full ownership of your accounts, from day-to-day operations to long-term growth and success. You are responsible for both client satisfaction and team performance, demonstrating strong relationship management, leadership, and problem-solving skills - managing accounts independently.
Campaign & Project Management - You are a skilled project leader who can navigate complexity, optimize team performance, and deliver outstanding results. You are organized, efficient, and adept at bringing together diverse skill sets to achieve common goals.
AI Fluency (Advanced level) - You have a strong understanding of AI tools and technologies and their potential applications in PR and communications. You are proactive in learning about new AI tools, evaluating their capabilities, and exploring how they can enhance your work and the work of your team. You contribute to shaping the agency's approach to AI adoption and integration.
Financial Oversight - You demonstrate strong financial acumen by managing account P&Ls, budgets, staffing allocations, and revenue forecasting. You’re a self-starter with strong financial acumen and ready to take on greater responsibility. You are capable of managing complex financial tasks and driving account growth.
Growth/New Business - You are a proactive and results-oriented individual who plays a key role in driving the agency's growth. You are adept at building relationships, identifying opportunities, and closing deals
Talent Development & Growth - You foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and high performance and address challenges proactively.

What you bring to the table:

8-10+ years of relevant experience in communications marketing and/or related fields, including agency or in-house communications roles.
Proven track record leading Integrated Agency Teams (IATs)
A strong ability to collaborate closely with Strategy, Creative, Earned, Social, Digital, Media and other integrated teams
Excellent leadership/ teamwork skills and the ability to multitask.
Excellent communication skills
Strong presentation and client engagement skills
Must be able to work independently
Interest and passion in training others and building knowledge across the organization
Well-organized, disciplined and detail-oriented
Experience collaborating across regions

We’re humbled by the number of talented people who apply to work with us every day. And, we thank each and every one of you. Truly. We’ll reach out directly to those we’d like to meet for an interview.

Creating meaningful work means embracing different perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate based on age, colour, ability, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation. Not only are these provisions protected by provincial and federal law, embracing difference is what makes Citizen Relations what it is - and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We pride ourselves on our inclusive and accessible workplace. If you need any accommodations during the interview process to make it work for you, let us know.
