Position Overview

The City of Saint John is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Municipal Engineering Technologist.
The incumbent is responsible for the design, inspection and testing of complex municipal works projects with particular emphasis on water, sanitary sewer, transportation, storm drainage, road construction and environment projects; research and maintenance of records for existing infrastructure; co-ordinates information retrieval for municipal works projects; co-ordinates design and construction activities with operational areas; prepares quantity estimates and tender documents; reviews, approves and issues municipal permits as required; investigates customer requests and advises on applicable by-laws and policies; conducts field investigations and surveys for various municipal works projects; All work is conducted within the framework of an automated Work Request/ Job Order system.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must have completed a two-year diploma program in Civil Engineering Technology and have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
The successful applicant may be eligible to participate in a Flexible Time Options Program which includes the option of working a 4 or 5-day work week, subject to business requirements.
