Original job description

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 3 days in office)

Salary: $110,000–$125,000 + bonus

Industry: Logistics

Position Type: New Role

About the Opportunity

Our client is a self-funded, owner-operated logistics company serving eCommerce brands across North America. The business is profitable and has grown rapidly, doubling revenue year over year.

As the company moves into its next phase of scale, this is a key hire. The Accounting Manager is a standalone role reporting to the Director of Finance & Strategy and owns month-end close from start to finish. You’ll tighten the close, then build toward automation.

This role suits a CPA who likes to build. You’ll have real ownership from day one, a leader invested in your growth, and room to bring automation and AI into how finance runs.

Key Responsibilities

Own the full month-end and year-end close
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet and bank reconciliations
Reconcile billing and revenue to the GL monthly
Deliver weekly flash reporting and variance commentary to leadership
Prepare HST returns and oversee payroll remittances
Review AP and prepare year-end files for external accountants
Document close procedures and internal controls
Find and implement automation across reconciliations and reporting

What You Bring

CPA designation
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including owning a full month-end close
Experience in a high-volume transactional environment
HST return preparation experience
Intermediate Excel skills
Self-starter who can take ownership without close direction
Curiosity about automation and AI in finance

Nice to Have

Multi-entity, intercompany or US entity experience
ASPE year-end experience
An accounting process you improved or automated
Experience with QuickBooks Online or other cloud finance tools

Next Steps

We do appreciate all interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Clarity Recruitment is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible recruitment process and workplace. If you require accommodation, please let us know in advance and we will work with you to meet your needs.

Please note: We use AI-assisted tools for notetaking during the screening process.
