Interim Senior Financial Analyst (SFA)
Employment Type: Contract (6 months)
Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid, 3 days in office)
Rate: $55-60/hr
Industry: Medical Device Distribution
Position Type: Backfill
About the Opportunity
Our client is part of an international, publicly traded group of specialized medical device distributors. In Canada, the business operates three distribution companies across two legal entities, supplying diagnostic and therapeutic products to laboratories, hospitals, and clinics.
The Finance team is lean, and this role sits at the center of the revenue process. You'll own it from pipeline visibility through month-end accounting to the annual sales planning cycle. The fiscal 2027 budget is being finalized now, with forecasts in February and June and the formal budget in July, so you'll step straight into a live planning calendar. You'll report directly to the finance lead and have regular visibility with senior leadership and the commercial teams.
The role is currently a blend of FP&A support and recurring revenue reporting, and the mandate is expanding toward dedicated FP&A as sales compensation ownership moves from the commercial teams into Finance. A Power BI report rationalization project is also kicking off. Everything you need to run the cycle already exists, and you're welcome to improve it. This is a coverage role with a firm start: Monday, October 19 at the latest, with five days of cross-training from the outgoing analyst.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the revenue process end to end, from pipeline review through month-end revenue journal entries
- Own the sales planners for each of the three businesses, built at the supplier level and rolled up across Capital, Consumables, and Service
- Reconcile the finalized budget to the reporting system and distribute targets to commercial leaders for territory planning
- Run the weekly revenue reporting cycle to the parent group, including alignment meetings with commercial leaders
- Lead regular capital pipeline reviews in support of the revenue forecast
- Calculate monthly sales commissions across two legal entities (paid on the 15th and 30th), secure approval from commercial leaders, and hand off to payroll
- Build and refine sales compensation templates using historical data, and move ownership of the process toward Finance
- Support the budget and forecast cycles with financial models, variance analysis, and commentary on risks and opportunities
- Partner on the Power BI report rationalization, identifying which reports to keep, fix, or retire
- Improve planning tools, reporting cadence, and sales compensation processes where you see a better way
What You Bring
- 3+ years of FP&A, management reporting, or financial analysis experience, ideally in a distribution or sales-driven business
- CPA designation (CPA, CMA, or CGA)
- Advanced Excel skills, including building and maintaining planning models
- Hands-on Power BI experience
- Experience with consolidation or reporting tools such as HFM, and an ERP environment (Spire or similar)
- Ability to work independently with minimal hand-holding, and to step into a live budget cycle on day one
- Strong communication skills with finance leadership and commercial teams
Nice to Have
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 or AX experience
- Sales compensation or commission calculation experience
- Medical device, life sciences, or distribution industry background
