Original job description

Clarity is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Clarity brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class.

Recognized as one of Canada's fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Clarity is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities.

As an Engineering Manager, Product at Clarity, you will directly manage two product engineering teams, including the Engineering Leads and IC engineers on each. Each team runs as a triad of a PM, a Designer, and an Engineering Lead; you won't replace that structure, but you'll own the people leadership, delivery oversight, and prioritization support that today sits with the Director. This is a player-coach role: out of the critical path on roadmap, but close enough to the work to give real technical feedback and occasionally get hands-on yourself.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

Owning people leadership for two engineering teams. Managing both Engineering Leads and IC engineers, including 1:1s, performance reviews, and helping each person take on more scope and grow their career.
Acting as a technical leader across both teams–shaping architecture and technical direction alongside the Engineering Lead and bringing scrutiny to significant technical decisions, while the Lead retains day-to-day technical ownership, mentorship, and accountability.
Partnering with the Director to lead and develop the broader group of Engineering Leads in the group–and, as the team grows, with a peer group of fellow Engineering Managers.
Driving prioritization discipline alongside each team's triad, championing ruthless scoping and incremental delivery of business value.
Continuously assessing team effectiveness–delivery, health, and growth trajectory–and translating that read into action.
Championing the health, stability, and operational rigor of the platform across both teams, including participation in the management on-call rotation.
Building and scaling the team through hiring as engineering grows.
Championing AI-native engineering practices–staying personally fluent with AI coding tools and driving their adoption across the team.

Required skills:

Extensive software engineering experience, with enough depth to genuinely evaluate your teams’ technical decisions. (This typically looks like 8+ years of hands-on experience, though we care more about demonstrated depth than a specific number.)
A proven track record managing engineers of different levels (including Staff) and different working styles. (This typically looks like 3+ years in a formal management role.)
Strong IC experience building software at scale, preferably with Elixir, Ruby, or Typescript.
Effective communication across both technical and business stakeholders.
Strong track record as an engineer or manager during a period of rapid growth.
Genuinely proficient with AI-assisted coding tools, with recent hands-on experience.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment where you define the process, not just follow it.

Preferred skills:

Experience in fintech, marketplace platforms, or other regulated software environments.
Experience driving AI adoption as a team-wide process change, not just personal tool use

Compensation: Highly competitive compensation commensurate with experience and contribution.

Vancouver, BC: $165,000-$275,000
Remote, Canada: $165,000-$250,000

For this role, the estimated total compensation range is listed above. The actual base salary, variable bonus (if applicable), and options grant will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified.

Benefits & Perks:

Opportunity to participate in ownership of a rapidly growing company through our employee stock option plan.
Comprehensive 100% employer-paid health & dental premiums and a Health/Personal Spending Account for Canadian employees. (An employer-subsidized benefits program is available for US-based team members).
If you are based in Vancouver, enjoy a dedicated desk in our Vancouver, BC HQ, in the heart of downtown, with a fridge stocked with healthy snacks and drinks, an onsite gym, and a gorgeous rooftop amenity.
Vancouver based employees enjoy a $20-per-day commuter benefit for every day you work in our downtown HQ.
An engaging social calendar, including bi-weekly catered lunches, bi-weekly “Friday bar,” team workouts, annual summer party, and holiday party, two “onsite” all-team retreats each year, semi-annual team-building events, and Clarity Women’s Network events.
Significant opportunities for growth into team leadership and management roles.
Entrepreneurial culture and a small and dynamic team.
Sponsorship, immigration, and relocation for exceptional candidates.

Clarity is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
