Pure Life Machinery (PLM) is a precision sheet metal contract manufacturer based in St. Catharines, Ontario, part of the Court Holdings Ltd. group of companies. PLM fabricates complex assemblies for the food sanitation equipment, marine, and industrial sectors - including proprietary products for affiliated companies and external OEM customers across North America. This role sits at the centre of our ERP transformation as we implement Fulcrum ERP and transition from our legacy Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform.
Role Overview
The ERP Systems Engineer owns PLM’s ERP environment and its production schedule. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with three mandates: (1) lead the implementation of Fulcrum ERP - configuration, data migration, and go-live; (2) administer and maintain both the legacy NAV system and Fulcrum through the transition, including parallel running and NAV retirement; and (3) build and run the production schedule for a high-mix, low-volume fabrication shop. The role owns the integrity of the item master, bills of material, and routings - the data backbone that drives scheduling, MRP, purchasing, costing, and financial reporting - and turns that data into a realistic, capacity-constrained schedule the shop floor can execute.
Key Responsibilities
ERP Implementation - Fulcrum
- Serve as PLM’s internal implementation lead for Fulcrum ERP - own the project plan, drive configuration decisions, and manage go-live readiness with the vendor and PLM management.
- Configure work centres, machine and labour rates, shift calendars, inventory locations, item categories, and quoting-to-job workflows so the system reflects how PLM actually builds its products.
- Plan and execute data migration from NAV - cleanse, map, and load items, BOMs, routings, customers, vendors, open orders, and inventory balances; reconcile loaded data against source.
- Lead user acceptance testing, deliver end-user training, and plan cut-over and post-go-live support.
- Establish shop-floor data collection (job clock-in/out, operation completion, scrap and downtime reasons) as a condition of go-live - the source for actual job costing and schedule feedback.
ERP Administration - NAV & Fulcrum
- Administer and maintain both systems through the transition: user accounts, roles and permissions, master data, number series, and system settings.
- Manage parallel running - define which transactions live in which system, keep data synchronised, and reconcile inventory, WIP, and open orders between the two.
- Plan and execute NAV retirement once Fulcrum is stable: historical data archive, read-only access, and decommissioning.
- Act as the first point of escalation for ERP questions from production, purchasing, engineering, and finance; resolve or escalate to vendors and maintain an issue and change-request log.
- Develop and maintain user guides, work instructions, and training for key ERP processes.
- Build and maintain standard reports and dashboards - schedule adherence, on-time delivery, WIP, capacity load, and job margins.
Production Scheduling - High-Mix, Low-Volume
- Own the production schedule for PLM’s fabrication shop - convert customer orders and forecasts into a finite-capacity, sequenced schedule across laser cutting, punching, press brake forming, machining, welding, assembly, and finishing.
- Sequence jobs to balance due dates, setup reduction (material and gauge grouping, nesting, tooling changeovers), bottleneck utilisation, and WIP limits.
- Run daily and weekly schedule reviews with production supervisors; issue dispatch lists by work centre; manage rush orders, expedites, and schedule changes, and communicate the impact on other commitments.
- Coordinate material readiness with purchasing - sheet stock, hardware, purchased components, and outside processing (powder coat, plating, heat treat) - so jobs are released only when kitted.
- Provide realistic lead times and capacity inputs to sales and estimating for quoting and order promising, including intercompany demand from affiliated Court Holdings companies.
- Track and report schedule adherence, on-time delivery, capacity load versus available hours, and bottleneck performance; drive corrective actions.
Item Master, BOM & Routing Management
- Govern the item master - naming and numbering convention, unit of measure, item type, category, and costing method; audit and clean up active, obsolete, and duplicate items ahead of migration.
- Translate engineering drawings and design releases into accurate multi-level BOMs - component quantities, scrap factors, revision levels, and make vs. buy designations; implement approved engineering change notices (ECNs) promptly.
- Create and maintain routings - work centres, setup and run times, and operation sequences - capturing accurate standard times with production; these are the foundation for scheduling, capacity planning, and job costing.
- Validate BOM and routing accuracy before jobs are released to the floor.
Costing & Purchasing Support
- Maintain work-centre and machine-hour rates in the ERP in line with PLM’s approved rate model, with setup and run rates kept distinct.
- Maintain vendor pricing, lead times, and minimum order quantities so item costs and planning lead times stay current.
- Support cost roll-ups and analyse estimated versus actual job costs (material, labour, machine time); communicate variances to production, estimating, and finance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Equivalent combination of technical education and hands-on manufacturing ERP and scheduling experience will be considered. APICS/ASCM CPIM certification is an asset.
Experience
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing ERP administration and production planning or scheduling, ideally in a job-shop, contract manufacturing, or high-mix, low-volume environment.
- Working knowledge of at least one manufacturing ERP system (e.g., Fulcrum, JobBOSS, ProShop, Epicor, Global Shop Solutions, NetSuite, SAP Business One, Odoo, Dynamics NAV/BC). Platform-specific experience is not required - Fulcrum or NAV exposure is an asset.
- Participation in at least one ERP implementation or migration - configuration, data migration, testing, and go-live.
- Proven production scheduling in a high-mix, low-volume setting - finite capacity, job sequencing, bottleneck management, and frequent changeovers.
- Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and routings in an ERP system.
- Practical understanding of sheet metal fabrication - laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, finishing - is a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of material.
Skills & Competencies
- Systems thinker - understands how items, BOMs, routings, rates, and calendars flow through to the schedule, job cost, and financials.
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of data ownership - you catch a wrong BOM or routing before it hits the shop floor.
- Strong data skills - advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables, import/export templates); SQL, data migration tools, or Power BI are assets.
- Composed under pressure - balances competing priorities and rush orders, and uses data to make and defend scheduling trade-offs.
- Strong cross-functional communication - comfortable working daily with shop floor supervisors, engineering, purchasing, sales, and finance.
- Self-directed and organised - able to run an implementation project and a live schedule at the same time, without close supervision.

- Base salary of $80,000 – $95,000, based on experience, plus a performance bonus of up to 8% of base tied to Fulcrum go-live and on-time delivery.
