Clearlight Energy, an LS Power company established in 2025, owns and operates more than 4,500 MW across 52 assets consisting of utility scale solar, wind, battery storage and renewable natural gas in North America. Approximately 4,000 MW of its operations are located in the U.S., across NYISO, MISO, PJM, ERCOT and CAISO markets, with the remaining 500 MW located in Canada. The Company is headquartered in Oakville, Ontario with employees in both Canada and the United States.

Clearlight Energy focuses on providing operational excellence to supply critical energy capacity and meet growing demand. Additionally, it has a 1,200 MW development pipeline of additional renewable resources to support grid reliability and decarbonization.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager, Investment Analysis leads Clearlight Energy’s investment analysis group, playing a key role in acquisition, development and investment decisions across the Company. The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts and lead-analysts responsible for owning and developing complex financial models, and will play a critical role in commercial decision-making, providing recommendations to senior leadership and owning key commercial workstreams

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor and develop the investment analysis team, setting priorities and allocating resources across a pipeline of acquisition, greenfield development, repowering and other investment opportunities with a primary focus on Wind, Solar, or Storage opportunities in Canada and US
Lead the modelling and structuring of complex transactions, including greenfield development, portfolio M&A, US tax equity and construction and term financings
Play a key role leading commercial negotiations, providing structuring and economic expertise to drive successful outcomes in transaction processes
Utilize strong communication skills to ensure models reflect input from internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SME)
Advise senior leadership on deal structure, bid strategy, valuation and risk allocation, translating financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations
Own the analytical output of the group - financial models, valuations, investment summaries and recommendations - and present key findings to senior leadership and in front of Investment Committee
Establish and enforce modelling standards, assumption governance, documentation, version control and review protocols so that outputs are consistent, auditable and defensible
Partner with Development, Origination, Asset Management, Finance, Tax, Accounting and Legal to source inputs, vet assumptions and coordinate due diligence workstreams from screening through to closing
Lead the analytical work behind competitive procurements and RFP submissions in Canada and the US, including pricing strategy and bid economics
Support negotiation of term sheets, purchase agreements, offtake contracts and financing documents by quantifying the economic impact of commercial positions
Build the capability of the function over time - hiring, onboarding, training, performance management and succession for the analyst group
Support other ad-hoc projects and strategic analyses to further the team’s development and growth objectives

Qualifications

Have significant experience in the energy industry, ideally through investment banking, project finance, M&A, private equity, or corporate development
Have deep expertise building, reviewing and defending complex financial models for energy generation projects, including complex debt, equity and partnership structures
Have experience leading, coaching or mentoring analysts, and a genuine interest in developing a high-performing team
Understand power market fundamentals, with advanced knowledge of markets in Canada and the US
Have experience with greenfield development economics and/or US tax equity and transferability structures
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or other related fields
Exercise sound commercial judgment and are comfortable making recommendations with incomplete information under time pressure
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present to and influence executives, investors, lenders and counterparties
Have the ability to manage multiple competing transactions simultaneously with strict deadlines
Have a keen interest and a passion for renewable energy
Professional designation (CPA, CFA, CBV) or MBA an asset.
