Original job description

Technical Architect Google (Workspace Gemini AI) Toronto / WFH to CAD 145,000

Do you have expertise with Google Workspace?

You could be progressing your career in a hands-on role, working on complex and challenging systems as part of a supportive team at a global FinTech.

As a Technical Architect you will take ownership of the architecture, security and operational enablement of a large scale Google ecosystem, acting as the definitive SME for Google Workspace and Gemini. You'll bridge strategic architecture with hands-on delivery, setting the tenant roadmap while enabling IT Operations and L2/L3 administrators to adopt new capabilities securely and effectively.

You'll own the design and evolution of the Google Workspace environment, including organisational units, groups, access controls and collaboration workflows. You'll assess the Google and Gemini product roadmaps, translating new capabilities into practical adoption strategies and designing integrations across identity and enterprise platforms such as Okta and ServiceNow.

A major focus will be enterprise Gemini adoption, you'll define which AI capabilities are enabled for different user groups, establish governance and data protection standards and develop practical use cases and prompt engineering guidance to maximise the value of Gemini while protecting proprietary data.

Security will also be central to the role, covering Context-Aware Access, DLP, phishing and malware protection, eDiscovery, retention and legal holds through Google Vault. You'll work closely with Cyber Security on security assessments, remediation and ongoing improvement of the Workspace environment.

Location / WFH:

There's a hybrid work from home model, with three days in the Toronto office per week (you could also be based in Vancouver or Montreal offices).

About you:

  • You have strong engineering and architectural experience managing large scale, enterprise level Google Workspace environments
  • You have deep, hands-on expertise with the Google Workspace Admin Console, Google Cloud Identity and Google Vault
  • You have a strong understanding of Generative AI mechanics and specific experience configuring and deploying Gemini for Google Workspace (or equivalent enterprise AI assistants like Copilot

  • You have strong automation and scripting experience, specifically for Google environments (GAM, GAMADV-XTD3, Python, and Google Apps Script)
  • You can translate complex architectural and security concepts into easy-to-follow, step-by-step guidance for operations teams
  • You have strong documentation skills, with a track record of creating robust technical runbooks and architectural diagrams
