Original job description

About Clutch:

We're on a mission to reinvent the way people buy, sell, and own cars. Are you game?

Clutch is Canada's largest online used car retailer, delivering a seamless, hassle-free car buying and selling experience to drivers everywhere. Customers can browse hundreds of cars from the comfort of their home, get the right one delivered to their door, and enjoy peace of mind with our 10-Day Money-Back Guarantee… and that's just the beginning.

Named to The Globe and Mail's list of Canada's Top Growing Companies for six consecutive years and also awarded spots on Deloitte's Technology Fast 50™ and Fast 500™ lists, we're looking to add curious, hard-working, and driven individuals to our growing team.

Headquartered in Toronto, Clutch was founded in 2017 and currently services Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Clutch is backed by a number of world-class investors, including D1 Capital, Altos Ventures, BMO Capital Partners, Canaan, Real Ventures, and others. To learn more, visit clutch.ca.

About the role:

Clutch is looking for a Part-Time Weekend Licensed Automotive Service Technician to join our team! We're looking for a licensed automotive mechanic talent to help ensure that all of our vehicles are up to our high mechanical standards. Working alongside our reconditioning team, you will perform vehicle inspections, maintenance work, and repairs across a range of systems.

Schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

What you'll do:

Perform Clutch standardized vehicle inspections (stationary and road tests)
Diagnose and assess vehicle issues and damage
Perform Ontario Provincial Safety Inspections
Make recommendations about vehicle repairs and the best course of action
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance such as oil changes, suspension and brake jobs
Create and maintain documentation of repairs, inspections, and estimates
Ensure vehicles meet Clutch's mechanical and safety standards
Communicate vehicle status, repair needs, and completion timelines
Use diagnostic tools and shop systems (e.g., Google Drive, Slack)
Contribute to continuous improvement of mechanical procedures

Metrics/measurement of success include inspection thoroughness, repair quality, safety compliance, turnaround time, and documentation accuracy.

What we're looking for:

310S Red Seal or equivalent certification or training
Experience working with a variety of car brands (domestic, import & European)
Team player above all else
Strong attention to detail
Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands
Desire to learn new skills
Comfortable using technology (Google Drive, Slack, etc.)
Valid Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract
Availability to work every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM

Other items to note:

Communication, problem resolution/analysis, customer service orientation
Ability to work independently and with a team
Working conditions in a shop environment

It'd be great if you have:

Experience with advanced diagnostic tools
Previous work in reconditioning, dealership, or high-volume inspection environments

Why you'll love it at Clutch:

Autonomy & ownership – opportunity to build your process and influence the company workforce at every level
Help shape the future of car buying and selling in Canada by leading a critical part of our vehicle quality process
Broad and direct ownership over mechanical standards and vehicle readiness during a phase of rapid growth
Dedicated to attracting and retaining top talent with top-of-market compensation packages

Employment Type: Existing, Permanent Part-Time

Compensation & Benefits:

Wage: $34.00 – $39.00 per hour
Pay decisions reflect objective criteria: skills, performance, market benchmarking, responsibilities, and working conditions.

Clutch is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed. If you require accommodation at any stage of the interview process, please email talent@clutch.ca
