Original job description

About Clutch:

We’re on a mission to reinvent the way people buy, sell, and own cars. Are you game?

Clutch is Canada’s largest online used car retailer, delivering a seamless, hassle-free car buying and selling experience to drivers everywhere. Customers can browse hundreds of cars from the comfort of their home, get the right one delivered to their door, and enjoy peace of mind with our 10-Day Money-Back Guarantee… and that’s just the beginning.

Named to The Globe and Mail’s list of Canada’s Top Growing Companies for six consecutive years and also awarded spots on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50™ and Fast 500™ lists, we’re looking to add curious, hard-working, and driven individuals to our growing team.

Headquartered in Toronto, Clutch was founded in 2017 and currently services Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Clutch is backed by a number of world-class investors, including D1 Capital, Altos Ventures, BMO Capital Partners, Canaan, Real Ventures, and others. To learn more, visit clutch.ca.

We’re growing rapidly, with in‑house re‑conditioning centres, a captive lending platform, and a national logistics network. We combine manufacturing‑grade operations with a tech-enabled consumer experience. We plan to list publicly within 24–36 months and are building the finance foundation to get there.

About the role:

Clutch is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will play a key role in the full accounting cycle, including managing AR and AP operations, supporting bookkeeping activities, and assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Beyond traditional accounting responsibilities, you will help build and improve financial processes, ensure strong internal controls, and promote a culture of financial accountability across the organization. The ideal candidate is a designated CPA with strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

What you’ll do:

Guide and support the bookkeeping team through daily operations, reconciliations, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting activities.
Coordinate with finance team members to assist with budgeting, planning, and forecasting in partnership with Operations and senior management.
Analyze and report on financial and operational metrics.
Build and improve internal financial processes to enhance efficiency and maintain strong control standards.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders during the implementation of a new ERP system.

What we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation required.
3+ years of experience in analytical accounting or finance; public accounting experience is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and a bias to action.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Experience with Oracle Fusion is a plus.
Comfortable working primarily on-site at our Downtown Toronto office (60 Adelaide St. E).

It’d be great if you have:

Experience improving financial processes in a high-growth company.
Exposure to ERP system implementations or upgrades.

Why you’ll love it at Clutch:

Be part of a disruptive, tech-driven company that is transforming the automotive industry - one of the largest and fastest-growing B2C startups in Canada.
A unique opportunity to work at the center of the company, helping shape how Clutch communicates, operates, and executes as we scale.
Freedom to innovate and ownership of your role - work on meaningful and challenging projects that have a direct impact on the business.
Collaborate with a talented and passionate team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Competitive pay and equity incentives.
Comprehensive health and dental benefits.
Opportunities for growth and development in a rapidly scaling company.

Employment Type:

Existing, Permanent Full-Time

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range: $95,000 - $105,000 annually plus stock options
Benefits: Healthcare, dental, vision, prescriptions, life insurance, and dependent coverage from day 1.
Pay decisions reflect skills, performance, market benchmarking, responsibilities, and working conditions.

Clutch is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed. If you require accommodation at any stage of the interview process, please email talent@clutch.ca.

We use AI-assisted tools to help screen and assess applications. Final hiring decisions are made by our team.
