POSITION TITLE: Team Lead – Safe At Home: Coordinated Hoarding Prevention and Early Intervention

PROGRAM: Community Care and Peer Initiatives – Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Calgary Region

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time; Temporary Contract Ending in May 25, 2027

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week; Occasional evenings or weekend work may also be required

POSITION SUMMARY: The Team Lead will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Safe At Home project, a two-year pilot designed to prevent and address hoarding behaviours through early intervention and housing stability supports. This role will lead a centralized, specialized Hoarding Team responsible for intake, assessment, case coordination, and navigation support for individuals experiencing hoarding behaviours, while also building sector-wide capacity through training, collaboration, and advocacy.

The Team Lead will ensure cohesive service delivery across partner agencies, supervise staff and Peer Support Workers, manage data and evaluation requirements, and lead knowledge mobilization activities including training events and a Community Symposium. The role requires a balance of community mental health care knowledge, housing expertise, systems navigation, and leadership in cross-sector collaboration.

REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Community Care and Peer Initiatives

LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta - Hybrid, with travel to community sites as required

Key Service Responsibilities And Specific Accountabilities

Program Leadership & Coordination

Lead and operationalize the Safe At Home pilot project in alignment with project goals, funder requirements, and organizational priorities.
Provide supervision, coaching, and support to project staff and Peer Support Workers.
Coordinate intake, assessment, referrals, case monitoring, and follow-up with partner agency tenants.
Develop and implement coordinated case conferencing and eviction prevention strategies with partner agencies.
Ensure consistent, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices across the project team.

Community Navigation & Direct Support

Oversee delivery of individualized support services, including community navigation, appointment accompaniment, and linkage to programs and natural supports.
Support early intervention strategies to protect, preserve, and enhance housing stability for clients.
Promote tenant voice and empowerment through Peer Support integration.

Collaboration & Capacity Building

Act as primary liaison among partnered agencies, municipal representatives, and allied professionals to ensure a coordinated, cohesive system response.
Organize and deliver select training opportunities for agency staff, community partners, and professionals.
Advocate for increased community awareness, prevention strategies, and systemic improvements in addressing hoarding behaviours.
Support the design, planning, and coordination of a Community Symposium to share learning and build collective capacity.

Data, Evaluation & Reporting

Maintain oversight of data collection, database management, and reporting for project outcomes.
Track service delivery, client outcomes, and sector engagement to inform evaluation and continuous improvement.
Prepare timely reports for funders, management, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or a related human services field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health, housing stability, or complex needs case management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Demonstrated knowledge of hoarding behaviours, harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, and eviction prevention strategies.
Strong skills in cross-sector collaboration, community development, and systems navigation.
Experience in program development, evaluation, and report writing.
Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual collaboration tools.

ASSETS

Experience leading Peer Support Workers and integrating lived experience perspectives.
Knowledge of housing systems, tenancy legislation, and municipal housing supports.
Background in training facilitation, workshop design, or knowledge mobilization.
Familiarity with the nonprofit sector and government/community funding environments.
Fluency in additional languages or demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse communities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily office-based with frequent community and partner agency visits.
Occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate community training, events, or urgent client needs.
Travel within Calgary required; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle an asset.
