Job Summary

The incumbent supports the safe, efficient, and productive day-to-day operation of Autoramp and Transload facilities. The role provides frontline operational support, coordinates workforce and workflow requirements, supports safe railcar and vehicle handling activities, and assists with executing operating plans. The incumbent promotes a strong safety culture, monitors operational performance, provides employee coaching, and supports compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements. The role contributes to operational, customer service, and safety objectives while supporting the Supervisor and terminal leadership.

Main Responsibilities

Safety

Conduct job briefings and communicate daily safety expectations.
Perform safety observations, workplace inspections, and employee engagements.
Coach employees on safe work procedures and Life Critical Rules.
Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Assist the Supervisor with incident investigations by gathering information, completing initial observations, and documenting findings.
Monitor compliance with operating rules, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Support Health and Safety initiatives and annual safety action plans.
Promote an environment where employees actively identify and address safety concerns.

Operating Efficiency and Customer Service

Coordinate daily workforce assignments and work activities under the Supervisor's direction.
Support railcar spotting, switching, loading, unloading, and storage activities.
Monitor production performance against daily targets.
Respond to operational disruptions and assist with service recovery efforts.
Recommend workforce adjustments to the Supervisor and support the implementation of approved workforce plans.
Support achievement of terminal productivity, quality, and customer service goals.

Staff Management

Coordinate work assignments and provide day-to-day direction to employees within parameters established by the Supervisor.
Monitor attendance and workforce levels and escalate concerns to the Supervisor.
Provide day-to-day coaching and feedback to employees, and escalate ongoing attendance, conduct, and performance concerns to the Supervisor. Gather information and document employee discussions as required.
Support employee training and skill development.
Document safety discussions, coaching conversations, and attendance concerns.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Communicate operational priorities and expectations to employees.

Equipment and Facility Oversight

Inspect terminal facilities, tracks, walkways, and operating areas.
Identify housekeeping, vegetation, and maintenance concerns.
Monitor equipment condition and report deficiencies.
Submit maintenance requests and follow up on repairs.
Ensure safe operating conditions throughout the facility.

Administrative Responsibilities

Complete shift reports and operational documentation.
Review employee time entries and attendance records.
Document incidents, investigations, corrective actions, and coaching discussions.
Maintain accurate shift handover notes.
Track completion of required safety and operational activities.

Working Conditions

The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments in various types of weather and environmental conditions. The incumbent must be available to work shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays when necessary. The role requires being available on-call to respond to critical incidents and operational issues. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and manage stress in a dynamic operating environment. The role may require occasional travel, including overnight stays away from home.Requirements
