Original job description

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Director, Corporate Accounting, on a permanent full-time basis within our Finance team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and is based in Saskatoon, SK.

Are you a strategic accounting leader who thrives on driving financial excellence, improving processes, and developing high-performing teams? Join our Corporate Accounting team, where you'll play a key role in overseeing financial reporting, strengthening accounting practices, and supporting strategic decision-making across FCL and the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). If you enjoy leading teams, navigating complex financial challenges, and collaborating with senior leaders to drive organizational success, we'd love to hear from you!

What you’ll do:

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of corporate accounting and financial reporting activities, including quarterly consolidated financial statements, year-end reporting, and financial analysis to support senior leadership and Board decision-making.

Lead the corporate accounting team in supporting consolidated budgeting processes, ensuring accurate financial information and meaningful insights are available to guide organizational planning and operational decisions.

Drive continuous improvement across accounting processes, systems, and financial controls, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across FCL and the CRS.

Oversee the annual audit process, collaborating with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Partner with senior leadership and business units to evaluate financial performance, develop key performance indicators, and provide strategic recommendations that support operational effectiveness and organizational objectives.

Lead, coach, and develop accounting leaders and their teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Who you’ll work with:
The Team: You will work closely with Finance leadership, Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, and business partners across FCL and the CRS. You will report to the Associate Vice-President, Accounting, and provide leadership to five direct reports and a broader team of indirect reports. You will be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering accurate financial information, strengthening processes, and supporting informed business decisions.

Why it matters:
We help local Co-ops grow and thrive by offering a range of professional services, including marketing, market research, information technology, human resources, accounting, risk management and business development.

Who you are: You are looking for a career in Finance and:

Have 10+ years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in financial management, with demonstrated experience in financial reporting, accounting operations, and leading teams.

Have a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business.

A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
