Lake Country Co-op invites applications for the position of full-time Meat Cutter Trainee (40 hours/week) at our Food Store location in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the Meat Team Leader, responsibilities for the position include the following:
• Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, and safety principles to make a difference in members’ lives with a strong customer-focused approach.
• Provide legendary service at all touch points through various communication channels.
• Learn to cut, trim, grind, and prepare various cuts of meat according to customer requests and store requirements.
• Wrap, weigh, label, and price meat products to Co-op standards while maintaining production records.
• Stock and display products with a focus on well-organized, visually appealing presentation.
• Monitor code dates to always ensure the freshest inventory is on the shelf; follow First in, first out (FIFO).
• Learn to maintain accurate records to support inventory management, including completing paperwork for claims, damages, and shortages.
• Clean and sanitize meat department tools, equipment, and workstations.
• Support and follow Food Safe, Asset Protection, and Safety Management regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:
You are looking for a career opportunity in Retail Store Operations and Customer Service and meet the following:
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; Previous meat cutting experience and meat cutter trade certification is an asset.
• Willing to participate in an intensive, in-store meat cutter training program within established timelines.
• Honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and proud of the work that you do.
• Well-organized and capable of attaining a high level of production with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Strongly service-oriented, motivated, and capable of assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
• Able to fulfill physical labour job requirements, including regular heavy lifting and working in refrigerated and freezer environments.
• Familiar with Food Safe procedures and practices.
• Flexible work schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Learn to cut, trim, grind, prepare, package, weigh, label, and price meat products while maintaining production and inventory records. Provide customer-focused service, stock and display products, monitor freshness using FIFO, and maintain clean, safe work areas in accordance with food safety and company procedures.

Requirements

A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required; previous meat-cutting experience and trade certification are assets. Candidates must be willing to complete an intensive in-store training program, provide courteous customer service, work flexibly across shifts, and meet physical requirements including heavy lifting and working in refrigerated and freezer environments.
