Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner and assisting with general pharmacy inquiries.
- Support prescription processing activities by receiving prescription information, performing data entry, preparing labels, and assisting with prescription pick-up procedures under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
- Assist customers in locating over-the-counter medications, health and wellness products, and pharmacy merchandise.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory through stock replenishment, rotation, inventory counts, monitoring expiry dates, and product ordering support.
- Receive, stock, organize, and merchandise pharmacy products according to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries appropriately while providing professional customer service.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties including filing, record maintenance, report preparation, and documentation management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, customer, and business information in accordance with privacy legislation and company policies.
- Follow all pharmacy regulations, workplace health and safety standards, loss prevention practices, and company procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards throughout the dispensary and pharmacy retail area.
- Support the Pharmacy Team with additional operational duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Pharmacy Assistant Certificate or related post-secondary education is considered an asset.
- Minimum 1-2 years of customer service or retail experience preferred.
- Previous pharmacy experience is considered an asset.
- Experience handling confidential information in a professional environment is preferred.
- Strong computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy software systems is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and point-of-sale systems.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the pharmacy and healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and workplace safety practices is considered an asset.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry merchandise and supplies up to 25 lbs.
- Availability to work in a casual or part-time capacity, including a variety of shifts such as evenings, weekends, and holidays, with weekly hours ranging from 8 to 16 hours based on operational requirements.
