South Country Co-op is currently seeking a Pharmacy Student to join our team as a Pharmacy Assistant. This seasonal position will be based at our Pharmacy, located Taber, AB. This position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist on Duty. The Pharmacy Assistant performs technical duties, including data entry and preliminary filling of prescriptions. They must employ a high degree of direct patient contact, which is crucial in developing a positive patient experience. The Provincial Regulatory Body limits duties that the Pharmacy Assistants are authorized to perform.
This position is well-suited for individuals who are highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service and support positive patient experiences
- Assist with data entry and prescription processing
- Support preliminary filling of prescriptions under supervision
- Assist pharmacy staff with daily operational tasks
- Respond to customer and patient inquiries in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with pharmacy regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the pharmacy
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completion of first year of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPhm) from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous pharmacy experience is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficient data entry skills; Microsoft Office experience is an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to new technology
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Work Schedule:
This position requires Full Availability (Including weekdays, Evenings, Weekends and Holidays)
