Original job description

Build Your Career with One of Manitoba's Top Employers!

The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about connecting great people with meaningful opportunities? Red River Co-op is looking for a Talent Advisor who can bring energy, insight, and creativity to how we attract and welcome talent across our organization.

In this role, you’ll guide the full recruitment and onboarding experience while partnering with leaders to understand workforce needs, strengthen hiring practices, and support people-focused initiatives.

Working out of our Home Office located at 10 Prairie Way in Winnipeg, MB, you’ll serve as a trusted partner to leaders in unionized and non-unionized environments, offering practical guidance on recruitment, collective agreement interpretation, employment legislation, human rights, organizational policies, and employee relations.

If you enjoy building relationships, improving processes, and helping teams thrive, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact at one of Manitoba’s Top Employers.

What You’ll Do:

Lead full-cycle recruitment from planning and posting through sourcing, assessment, selection, and offer management.
Partner with leaders to anticipate staffing needs and create proactive, inclusive hiring strategies.
Develop talent pipelines for key and hard-to-fill roles through networking, direct sourcing, referrals, social media, and community partnerships.
Coach hiring leaders on interviewing, candidate evaluation, selection decisions, and recruitment best practices.
Enhance recruitment and onboarding programs, tools, systems, and Applicant Tracking System processes.
Maintain clear, market-informed job profiles that reflect business needs and support consistent decision-making.
Create & use recruitment metrics and hiring trends to identify opportunities, improve processes, and measure results.
Support onboarding experiences that help new team members feel informed, prepared, and connected.
Provide practical HR guidance that supports employee engagement, workplace effectiveness, and organizational goals.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

5+ years’ experience in recruitment, talent management, human resources, or a related field.
Experience using HRIS platforms and Applicant Tracking Systems.
Demonstrated ability to source candidates through direct outreach, social recruiting, referrals, community connections, and traditional channels.
Strong understanding of recruitment, onboarding, and related HR practices.
Clear, confident communicator with strong coaching, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Collaborative and inclusive, with a genuine interest in building strong relationships and supporting shared success.

If you’re ready to help shape a strong, welcoming, and future-focused workplace, we’d love to hear from you.

Red River Co-op welcomes applications from people with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request during the assessment and selection process by contacting the Human Resources Division at (204) 631-4600, or hr@rrcoop.com, or in person at 10 Prairie Way in Winnipeg.

Who We Are!

As one of Manitoba’s Top Employers, we have deep roots in our community. More than 85 years deep. And through the years we have proven our commitment to our members by making their priorities our priorities. We donate regularly to a wide range of organizations, feature local products prominently, and most importantly – give back to our members through profit sharing. We look to the past to inform our present core values.

But in this rapidly changing world, our roots ground us so that we can keep pace and innovate. We have grown from one standalone Gas Bar in downtown Winnipeg to an ever-expanding co-operative with 50 gas bar locations, 24 car washes, 6 cardlocks, 9 food stores, 8 pharmacies and an oil supply centre. Our fleet of trucks are on the road delivering fuel to farm and commercial accounts in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

And we just keep growing as we develop fresh, modern ways to deliver premium products with extraordinary customer service.

This role can be just the start of your career as there is ample opportunity for advancement within Red River Co-op. We are a proud member of the Co-operative Retailing System, a vast network of 160 retail Co-ops across western Canada.

Total Rewards:

Red River Co-op offers a comprehensive total rewards package including group insurance, a strong pension plan, and an employee discount. Advancement opportunities abound in the Co-operative Retailing System, and we encourage ongoing professional development along with up to 100% reimbursement for post-secondary course work. Additional details will be shared with candidates as part of the interview process.
