About the organization

CHFBC is a non-profit organization and the parent company that serves as the umbrella organization for this group of related enterprises, i.e. COHO Management Services and Community Land Trust (CLT). Our mission is to unite, represent, and serve our members to promote better housing conditions in BC. Our programs includes Member Engagement & Communications, Planning and Renewal, Co-op services, Education, Government Relations, and Group Buying. All of this, so that we can secure affordable housing for our present and future generations.

About the role

We are currently seeking a temporary HR Coordinator who is passionate about delivering exceptional employee experience and supporting a collaborative workplace culture.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the incumbent will play an integral role in supporting human resources operations across CHF BC, COHO Management Services Society and Community Land Trust. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day HR Coordination, support recruitment and onboarding initiatives, administer benefits and HR systems, maintain employee records, and assist with payroll-related processes.

This role is ideal for an organized and detailed oriented HR professional who enjoys building relationships, managing multiple priorities and contributing to a positive employee experience while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements and organizational policies.

Please note that this is a temporary maternity leave coverage position. The anticipated term is approximately 18 to 20 months. The duration may vary depending on operational requirements.

What you’ll do

The HR Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Coordinate employee lifecycle activities including recruitment, onboarding, employment changes, leaves and offboarding;
Support full-cycle recruitment processes, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and onboarding coordination;
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation within HR information systems (BambooHR);
Prepare employment letters, HR correspondence and standardized templates;
Administer employee benefits programs and support attendance management processes;
Support payroll administration, including the processing and tracking of payroll-related items;
Maintain employee banked time records and reconcile reported hours within HR systems;
Generate routine HR reports and maintain workforce data;
Support performance management, employee development initiatives and training coordination;
Assist with policy administration and ensure HR practices align with legislation, collective agreements and organizational standards;
Support organizational projects and cross-entity HR initiatives; and,
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.

What you bring

Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
No less than 2 to 4 years of experience in an HR administrative or coordinator capacity
Strong knowledge of HR administration, recruitment, employee records management, and HR best practices
Experience working with HR information system; BambooHR experience is considered a definite asset
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Experience in supporting multiple stakeholders or working within a multi-entity organization is an asset
CPHR designation or progress toward obtaining one, is considered an asset

Conditions of employment

This position is based at the Housing Central office in Vancouver, with an option to work remotely in accordance with organizational policies.
