Dynamic and growing Internet Service Provider, is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Network & Systems Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will lead our network operations, manage system builds, and oversee key network projects. You will be responsible for the operation and support of core and distribution networks, as well as related systems, while striving to improve network performance, stability, and efficiency. This role will also involve supervising field services and technical support teams, but with a primary focus on network infrastructure and operational projects.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Operate and support core and distribution networks, as well as related servers and equipment.
- Monitor tickets and infrastructure alerts after hours.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve network infrastructure, focusing on stability, cost reduction, and performance.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to network operations, system builds, and technical processes.
- Work on network projects, ensuring they are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Lead system builds and upgrades, including the implementation of new technologies and infrastructure improvements.
- Oversee inventory management for networking equipment, ensuring adequate stock and availability of spare parts.
- Guide and support Field Services personnel as needed.
- Provide support and mentorship to Technical Support Agents as needed.
- Review, audit, and manage tech support and network operations tickets, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Be available via phone, email, and messaging platforms to provide support to your team and management.
- Serve as an escalation point for network issues, installation issues, tech support, and deployment challenges.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff through training and knowledge enhancement.
- Maintain a high level of responsiveness to management and staff during and outside of business hours.
- Conduct inspections to ensure network installations and configurations meet quality standards.
- Train technicians on new equipment and procedures as needed.
- Manage time effectively, keeping track of network projects and other tasks.
**Qualifications:**
- Experience in a technical operations or supervisory role within the telecommunications or ISP industry.
- Strong passion for technology and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
- Ability to make a positive impact on the environment you manage, contributing new ideas and improvements.
- Solid understanding of core and distribution networks, network infrastructure, and related technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle escalations effectively.
- Flexibility to be available after hours.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to perform occasional fieldwork as needed.
- Experience with Cisco networking, including Catalyst, Small Business, and Nexus switches, as well as Cisco ASR 1k and 9k routers.
- Familiarity with Juniper Netscreen firewalls.
- Proficiency with Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD operating systems.
- Experience with monitoring software such as Zabbix and PRTG.
- Knowledge of Sandvine ActiveLogic.
- Experience with VoIP systems, including 3CX, Asterisk, and FreePBX.
- Familiarity with Ubiquiti EdgeRouters, switches, and WiFi systems.
