Role: Functional Quality Assurance (QA) Tester

Location: Mississauga, ON

Workplace type: Hybrid

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Functional QA Tester to support the testing of cloud-based applications, integrations, and enhancements. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on manual testing experience, exposure to AWS technologies, API and database testing skills, and an interest in using automation and AI to improve testing efficiency and coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and exploratory test cases.
  • Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify test scenarios, edge cases, and potential gaps.
  • Document, track, retest, and validate defects through resolution.
  • Test applications and integrations within an AWS environment, including Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, and CloudWatch.
  • Perform API testing to validate requests, responses, payloads, integrations, and error scenarios.
  • Perform database testing and SQL queries to validate data accuracy and troubleshoot issues.
  • Use logs and application data to investigate issues and support root-cause analysis.
  • Create and maintain test cases using Zephyr Essentials and manage defects and work items in Jira.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive and regression test cases.
  • Work with automation tools and frameworks to develop or maintain automated tests.
  • Use and experiment with AI tools to improve test-case creation, test coverage, automation, troubleshooting, and overall QA efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in functional/manual software testing.
  • Experience testing cloud-based applications, preferably within AWS.
  • Experience with API testing, database testing, and SQL.
  • Experience with Jira, Zephyr Essentials, and Confluence.
  • Experience with or a strong understanding of test automation.
  • Comfortable using and experimenting with AI tools and applying AI to testing and automation activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile software delivery environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Testing serverless or event-driven AWS applications.
  • Working with Lambda, SQS/SNS, CloudWatch, and S3.
  • API testing tools such as Postman.
  • Automating functional, regression, or API testing.
  • Using AI-assisted tools to generate test scenarios, support automation, analyze results, or improve QA processes.
