Role Overview
Cogency is seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Developer with 8+ years of experience to design, develop, and deliver scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise across Java, Spring Boot, microservices, modern frontend frameworks, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack enterprise applications.
- Develop scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Build modern frontend applications using Angular, React, or similar frameworks.
- Design and integrate RESTful APIs and enterprise services.
- Develop database solutions using SQL and relational databases.
- Perform application modernization, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Implement unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, product owners, and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, estimation, technical design, and delivery activities.
- Support CI/CD, automated deployments, production releases, and troubleshooting.
- Follow enterprise standards for security, scalability, performance, and coding practices.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 8+, preferably Java 11/17/21.
- Expert-level experience with Spring Boot and microservices.
- Strong frontend development experience with Angular, React, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, application architecture, and development best practices.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Experience with automated testing and DevOps practices.
- Banking, financial services, insurance, or regulated-industry experience is preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Must be available to work onsite in Toronto 3 days per week.
- 3 days onsite is mandatory; remote-only candidates will not be considered.
- In-person interview is mandatory.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
