Original job description

We are looking for an experienced Playwright Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust automated testing frameworks using Selenium and Playwright. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise in both tools and a strong background in test strategy, CI/CD integration, and quality engineering best practices.

In this role, you will

Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver and Playwright
Build and enhance test automation frameworks (hybrid/data-driven/keyword-driven/POM)
Ensure comprehensive test coverage for both frontend (UI) and backend (API, database) components.
Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.)
Identify, log, and track defects; work closely with development teams to resolve issues
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing progress and quality metrics.

What You Need To Have To Be Considered

Overall 6+ years of hands-on experience in automation testing for banking projects.
Must have 2+ years of strong hands-on experience with Playwright (Python).
Experience in designing automation scripts /automation framework from scratch if needed.
Strong programming skills in Python (for test scripting).
Strong API testing experience using Postman or REST APIs.
Experience with SQL for backend data validation.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.

These will help you stand out

Banking domain experience is highly preferred.
Exposure to AI-driven testing.

Total Compensation

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 60,000 - 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
