Job Title - Senior Manager Trust Accounting

Location - Etobicoke, ON M8X 2X9 (Hybrid)

Job Type - Full-Time

Salalry - $115K to $130K Per Annum

Description:
This position was created due to the expansion of the business from supporting 3 countries to 7 countries, increasing regulatory oversight, and the need for additional leadership capacity. The successful candidate will oversee trust accounting operations, regulatory compliance, governance, controls, and business resiliency activities supporting the movement of large amounts of money annually across multiple global regions. This is a highly visible leadership role with a clear succession path, as Client is looking to develop this individual into a Director-level leader within the next 1-2 years. The role requires a blend of operational accounting expertise, people leadership, regulatory oversight, strategic thinking, and executive-level stakeholder management.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager, Trust Accounting will lead a global team responsible for trust accounting operations, reconciliations, controls, governance, and compliance oversight supporting Cliet’s International Money Movement business. They will oversee approximately 6-7 Toronto-based employees along with offshore resources in Hyderabad and Chennai, while partnering closely with Compliance, Money Movement Operations, Technology, Legal, and senior business leaders across multiple countries. The role involves reviewing operational processes, identifying control gaps and risks, overseeing accounting controls and reconciliations, supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, and ensuring the organization remains audit and regulator-ready. This individual will also drive process improvements, strengthen governance frameworks, support business resiliency and disaster recovery planning, develop long-term operational strategies, and help prepare the organization for future growth and geographic expansion. Client is looking for a hands-on leader who can both manage day-to-day operations and think strategically about where the business needs to be in the next 3-5 years.

Must-Haves:

CPA designation (required)

8+ years of progressive accounting, finance, trust accounting, fund accounting, or operational accounting experience

Strong people leadership experience managing teams in regulated environments

Experience leading managers or senior professionals

Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Fund Accounting, Payments, or similar regulated industry experience

Strong operational accounting background with deep understanding of controls, reconciliations, and governance

Experience working within regulatory and compliance-heavy environments

Exposure to FINTRAC, AML, Payment Services regulations, or similar regulatory frameworks

Proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strategic mindset with ability to plan 3-5 years ahead

Strong stakeholder management and executive presence

Ability to identify risks, control weaknesses, and process improvement opportunities

Comfortable being a hands-on, working leader

Plusses:

Experience supporting trust accounting functions

International or global operations experience

Experience leading geographically dispersed teams

Experience managing SOX, SOC1, audit, or compliance frameworks

Business resiliency or disaster recovery experience

Experience supporting large-scale money movement, payroll, payments, or treasury operations

MBA or advanced business degree
