The expected base salary range for this position is $40/Hr - $43/Hr, depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Mission:

Support the testing and successful delivery of bank's AML and financial crime applications by performing hands-on UAT/QA testing across backend systems, data flows, and application functionality.
The consultant will be responsible for validating that application functionality and underlying data behave as expected across AML, STR, CTR, and related financial crime processes.
The ideal candidate can quickly understand the application and business process through knowledge transfer, then independently own testing activities, identify issues, and ensure project milestones are met.

Day-to-Day:

Execute UAT and QA testing across AML, STR, CTR, and related financial crime applications.
Perform significant backend and data-focused testing, not solely front-end/UI validation.
Use SQL to query databases, validate records, reconcile data, and investigate discrepancies.
Work with Databricks to review, analyze, and validate data used throughout the application.
Use Python where required to support testing, validation, or data analysis.
Create, execute, and maintain test cases, test scenarios, test plans, and test evidence.
Perform basic UI testing to validate end-to-end application functionality.
Understand upstream/downstream application dependencies and business processes impacting testing.
Participate in knowledge-transfer sessions and become independently productive quickly.
Investigate defects and determine whether issues originate from data, application logic, integrations, or other components.
Document defects clearly and work with developers, BAs, QA teams, and business stakeholders through resolution.
Immediately identify and escalate critical or blocking defects that could impact delivery.
Track testing progress against project milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
Follow bank’s PINO project process/framework and established QA/UAT governance.
Proactively ask questions, challenge unclear requirements, and identify risks before they become delivery issues.

Must Haves:

Strong hands-on QA/UAT testing experience within AML, STR, CTR, financial crime, or closely related banking applications.
Strong understanding of backend testing and data validation.
Advanced hands-on SQL skills, including querying and validating large datasets.
Experience working with Databricks.
Working knowledge of Python.

Strong understanding of QA/UAT fundamentals including:

Test cases
Test scenarios
Test plans
Defect management
Test execution and documentation
Experience testing applications from an end-to-end business and technical perspective.
Ability to quickly understand an application and its underlying business processes following knowledge transfer.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to proactively ask questions when requirements or results do not make sense.
Ability to recognize and immediately escalate critical/blocking issues.
Strong ownership of milestones, deliverables, and timelines.

Plusses:

Previous experience working directly within Canadian banking.
Experience testing multiple interconnected AML or financial crime applications.
Strong understanding of STR (Suspicious Transaction Reporting) and CTR (Cash Transaction Reporting) processes.
Experience working with large-scale banking datasets and performing complex reconciliation.
