THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a current CNS employee with training experience who is ready to take the next step in your career?

We are looking for a Training Manager to lead CNS’ Training Team and oversee the development and delivery of high-quality training for employees and external clients across Nova Scotia.

This role will lead the delivery and development of training programs across CNS, including mandatory, professional, and leadership training. The Training Manager will also support regulatory and organizational training requirements and work with external clients to develop training solutions that meet their needs.

As an internal candidate, you already understand the important role our people play in delivering CNS services. This opportunity is ideal for someone ready to build on that organizational knowledge and bring strong leadership, training expertise, and new ideas to the Training Team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead Training Operations
Lead the Training Team and oversee the scheduling and delivery of internal and external training programs.
Work collaboratively with Training, Human Resources, Recruitment, and Operations to develop an annual training schedule aligned with organizational and operational needs.
Support Regional, District, and Site Managers/Supervisors in maintaining mandatory employee training requirements.
Monitor course evaluations, performance measures, and participant feedback to continuously improve CNS training.
Provide leadership and support in resolving training-related operational, logistical, and participant concerns.
Deliver course material in an instructional capacity when required.
Provide coverage and support for the Training Coordinator and instructors as needed.
Develop Programs & Strategy
Assess organizational training and development needs and translate them into effective learning solutions.
Develop and implement training programs that support the current and future needs of CNS.
Research and introduce modern training methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Develop training-related policies and processes that support efficiency, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
Establish meaningful goals, KPIs, and performance measures to evaluate training effectiveness.
Contribute to business planning and strategic initiatives related to CNS training and development.
Build Partnerships & Grow External Training
Build and maintain strong relationships with external clients, training providers, and community partners.
Identify opportunities to expand CNS’ external training services and support client acquisition.
Work with clients to identify training needs and develop customized training solutions.
Act as a key CNS liaison with external training partners, including organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross.
Represent CNS at conferences, events, and other opportunities to promote our training programs and services.
Collaborate with Finance on external training payments and related administrative requirements.

WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking for an experienced training professional with 3–5 years of progressive experience developing, delivering, and evaluating customized training programs, ideally within a large or complex organization.

The successful candidate will bring:

Demonstrated leadership and/or management experience.
Experience developing and delivering training in an instructional capacity.
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and modern training methodologies.
Experience assessing training needs and translating them into actionable programs.
Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Experience establishing and using KPIs, metrics, and analytics to assess training effectiveness.
Strong relationship-building skills and experience working across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Experience developing business relationships and working with external clients.
Strong Microsoft Office skills and general technological proficiency.
A collaborative leadership style and demonstrated ability to support a productive team environment.

Experience working with a modern Learning Management System (LMS) would be considered an asset, as would experience with training scheduling and administration.

EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s degree in Training Development, Education, Human Resources, or a related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must:

Be a current Commissionaires Nova Scotia employee at the time of application.
Be eligible to obtain the required Government of Canada personnel security screening.
Be able to successfully complete the required criminal record screening.
Hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence.
Be able to communicate effectively in English; the ability to work in both official languages would be considered an asset.
Be able to travel within Nova Scotia as required.
