Original job description

We are currently recruiting for a term Cloud Administrator (12-month term) to work on-site at our office in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a newly created position.

What you will be doing…

As the Cloud Administrator, you will be the organization’s senior technical resource for our Microsoft 365 (M365) and cloud environment. You will carry out configurations, resolve complex technical issues, and provide remote support to users across multiple sites. You will also serve as the technical point of contact for new technology initiatives: researching emerging tools, assessing their fit within our environment, and defining how they will be supported once adopted.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, connecting technology to business needs, and helping shape how the organization adopts new tools.

Some of your responsibilities include…

Configure, administer, and troubleshoot the organization’s Microsoft 365 and cloud environment
Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning identity, endpoint, network, and application layers
Provide remote support to users across multiple sites and locations
Gather M365 and cloud requirements from business leaders and communicate available options and constraints
Keep stakeholders informed of planned maintenance, project status, and outages
Research emerging technologies (e.g., VoIP, radios, ticketing platforms, SharePoint) and assess their fit within our environment
Act as the technical point of contact between project teams, vendors, and the IT team on new technology initiatives
Present technology recommendations to IT leadership for approval
Coach and transfer knowledge to IT support staff, and train the team on newly introduced platforms
Contribute to and maintain the knowledge base, including troubleshooting guides and FAQs
Drive process improvement initiatives and facilitate continuous improvement (Lean) discussions

You’re a good fit if…

You have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud, software, and network environments
You are proficient in configuring and managing Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Automate), including MFA and conditional access policies
You have experience managing users, groups, permissions, and authentication in Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) and hybrid environments
You are proficient with Microsoft Intune for device provisioning, policy enforcement, application deployment, and compliance
You have experience installing, configuring, and supporting Windows Server environments
You understand networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, subnetting)
You have experience supporting Microsoft Teams, VoIP telephony, and radio communication systems
You can clearly explain technical concepts and constraints to non-technical stakeholders
You enjoy researching new technologies and evaluating their practical fit in an existing environment
You build strong working relationships with business leaders, vendors, and project stakeholders
You work independently while recognizing when to escalate or seek approval

Your must-haves:

Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (a relevant combination of experience and training will be considered)
ITIL Foundations certification
Microsoft 365 Administration certification
Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID in an enterprise environment
Experience with ITSM tools and providing remote support across multiple sites
A high degree of discretion and the ability to handle privileged system access and sensitive information responsibly
Must be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret security clearance
