With a heritage of technological excellence, our team serves customers in the communications, defense, medical, industrial, and scientific markets.

YOUR DAY TO DAY:

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst – Data and Automation to join our CPI Power Electronics team. This is a hands-on role responsible for turning business needs and data from JD Edwards, Salesforce, and other sources into reliable reporting, actionable analysis, and practical process improvements. The position independently extracts, combines, validates, and automates data, building solutions using SQL, Power BI, advanced Excel, and Python.

Reporting to the Business Process Improvement Manager, you will work with functional teams and local and corporate IT to establish priorities, define meaningful performance measures, and deliver maintainable solutions. The role combines technical development with business analysis, helping users understand results, make informed decisions, and reduce recurring manual effort.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR/TO:

Business Requirements & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Confirm business questions, priorities, metric definitions, and acceptance criteria with stakeholders and translate them into practical data and reporting requirements.

  • Work with functional teams to understand business processes, identify reporting needs, and prioritize opportunities for analysis and automation.

  • Manage agreed priorities, communicate progress, issues, and dependencies, and follow through on commitments.

Data Extraction, Integration & Quality

  • Independently extract and combine data from JD Edwards, Salesforce, databases, spreadsheets, and other approved sources using SQL, supported connectors, APIs, and scripts as appropriate.

  • Validate and reconcile results to source systems, ensuring reporting outputs are accurate, consistent, and traceable.

  • Document calculations and transformations, establish repeatable data-quality checks, and resolve discrepancies with business owners and IT.

Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Build and maintain Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, and dashboards that clearly communicate performance and exceptions.

  • Develop advanced Excel analyses that combine and reconcile data from multiple sources.

  • Maintain scheduled refreshes and troubleshoot reporting discrepancies to support reliable, timely access to information.

Automation & Process Improvement

  • Automate recurring data preparation, analyses, and reporting using appropriate tools, including Python.

  • Maintain reliable automated processes with error handling, monitoring, and refresh controls within IT-approved environments.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and simplify recurring business processes.

  • Monitor solution accuracy, usefulness, and reductions in manual effort to assess the effectiveness of improvements.

Business Analysis & Decision Support

  • Deliver prioritized analyses of backlog, sales pipeline, inventory and material availability, production and delivery performance, margins, and working capital.

  • Investigate trends, exceptions, and underlying causes; explain findings and recommend practical actions.

  • Present results clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences and help users apply insights to business decisions.

Solution Delivery & Governance

  • Test solutions with users against agreed requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Document and version-control code, reporting logic, and supporting procedures to ensure solutions remain maintainable.

  • Train and support users in understanding reports, using analytical tools, and applying results.

  • Coordinate with local and corporate IT on access, credentials, security, and infrastructure.

  • Share reusable solutions and collaborate with State College and other CPI analysts to support consistent practices and knowledge sharing.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • At least three years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analysis, business analysis, operations analytics, or process automation, including hands-on development of reporting or analytical solutions.

  • Demonstrated delivery of solutions that independently extract, combine, validate, and automate data from multiple systems to support a business decision or improve a recurring process.

  • Demonstrated SQL proficiency, including joins, aggregations, common table expressions or subqueries, and validation queries to retrieve and reconcile relational data.

  • Hands-on proficiency with Power BI, including Power Query, data modeling, DAX measures, dashboard development, scheduled refresh, and troubleshooting reporting discrepancies.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookup and aggregation formulas, Power Query, and repeatable analyses that reconcile data from multiple sources.

  • Practical experience with Python and APIs, including writing, modifying, troubleshooting, and maintaining scripts to extract, clean, combine, and validate data, while handling common data formats, authentication requirements, and errors.

  • Strong business analysis and data-quality skills, with the ability to define useful measures, understand processes, trace results to their sources, identify root causes, and translate findings into recommendations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability and willingness to travel less than 10% to the United States, primarily State College, Pennsylvania, for support, collaboration, training, and workshops, and to meet applicable international travel requirements.

  • Direct experience with JD Edwards and Salesforce data, reporting, or interfaces is preferred.

  • Experience in manufacturing or engineered-product businesses, including analysis of orders, backlog, inventory, production, margins, or working capital, is preferred.

  • Experience with Git or other source control, scheduled jobs, Power Automate, or other data integration and workflow automation tools is an asset.
