Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, supports the Unit Manager in overseeing the daily operations of food service locations. This role is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, supporting team development, and driving operational and financial performance. The Assistant Manager helps lead frontline staff while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Job Requirements
- Assist in the day-to-day management of food service operations.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and service standards are consistently met.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies and products.
- Support the implementation of company programs, promotions, and initiatives.
- Address operational issues and resolve customer concerns promptly.
- Supervise and support frontline employees during shifts.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management support.
- Promote employee engagement and foster a positive work environment.
- Lead shifts and act as manager-on-duty when required.
- Create and maintain employee schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Manage labor costs through effective scheduling practices.
- Review timecards and assist with payroll administration.
- Monitor attendance and address scheduling concerns
- Ensure customers receive friendly, efficient, and professional service.
- Address customer feedback and implement service recovery strategies when needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience in food services or hospitality.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong customer service orientation with a passion for creating exceptional customer experiences.
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with inventory management, cash handling, labour scheduling, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry up to 25 pounds throughout the workday.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
