Position Overview:

BACKGROUND

We are seeking an experienced technical resource who can become the team’s go-to person for technical questions and recommendations, provide strong architectural and development direction.

Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead with a strong Microsoft .NET development background for a 12 month onsite contract in Calgary who can provide technical leadership across application development and architecture. This person should be equally comfortable reviewing technical approaches, making architectural recommendations, mentoring Application Analysts/developers, and getting hands-on when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Application Analysts and developers.
• Serve as the escalation point for application development and technical design questions.
• Recommend application architecture, design patterns, development standards, and technical approaches.
• Design, build, enhance, and troubleshoot .NET-based applications.
• Review solutions and help ensure applications are maintainable, scalable, and aligned with appropriate development practices.
• Mentor junior team members and help improve the team’s overall technical capability.
• Work with Traci and other stakeholders to translate business/application requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Help evaluate options and make recommendations rather than simply waiting for technical direction.
  
  
  

Core Skills:

• Strong hands-on .NET / C# development experience.
• Demonstrated application architecture and solution design experience.
• JavaScript development experience.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading or mentoring developers / Application Analysts.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical recommendations clearly.
  
  
  

Nice to Have:

• Microsoft Dynamics experience.
• Experience working in public sector, Crown, research, or similarly structured enterprise environments.
• Azure / Microsoft cloud exposure would be beneficial if available.
  
  
  

The key piece is that the successful cannot just be a senior developer. They need to be comfortable owning technical recommendations, guiding a junior team, answering questions, and operating as a trusted technical lead.
