We are hiring a Chief Engineer!

We are in search of a dynamic Chief Engineer oversee the hotel's maintenance operations, building systems, and preventative maintenance programs. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and associates while ensuring compliance with Element brand standards and company requirements.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities in this role include:

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, train, coach, and develop the maintenance team while fostering a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment.
Manage scheduling, performance, communication, and daily departmental operations.
Ensure associates are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.

Maintenance & Facilities Operations

Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs in accordance with Element brand standards, manufacturer specifications, and company requirements.
Prioritize and manage work orders, conduct inspections, and ensure timely completion of repairs.
Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, laundry, kitchen, and other hotel systems and equipment.
Oversee the upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, building exteriors, grounds, and back-of-house spaces.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventory, and equipment documentation.

Contractor & Vendor Management

Coordinate and supervise contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with hotel standards.
Obtain and review quotes, monitor project costs and timelines, and ensure work is completed according to agreed specifications.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, fire and life safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
Maintain required inspections, safety documentation, key control, and emergency procedures.
Identify and promptly address potential hazards and operational risks.

Guest Service & Departmental Support

Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and support the General Manager in resolving facility-related concerns.
Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to coordinate room readiness, maintenance priorities, and operational needs.
Maintain a guest-focused approach while ensuring the hotel remains safe, comfortable, and fully operational.

WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, ARE YOU …

An experienced professional with a minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a similar sized hotel property.
A 5^th or 4^th Class Power Engineer.
Previous experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.
Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.
Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
Experience managing contractors, vendors, and maintenance projects.
Knowledge of applicable safety, fire, and building regulations.
Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to urgent situations.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Physically able to frequently stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, and lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds or more.
