Hardware Engineer – Smart Building & Edge AI Systems
Condoplex • Toronto, ON • Full-Time • On-Site, with occasional field work
Condoplex builds the devices and platforms that let residential and commercial buildings communicate, secure themselves, and adapt: smart control panels, secure entry systems, edge-connected sensors, and cloud-managed services. Engineers here have real ownership and a direct say in what we build.
We're hiring a hardware engineer who has taken products from concept to production and wants to lead hardware development for our next generation of building automation systems.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll architect the embedded hardware behind our products, work closely with our cloud and software engineers, and manage the contractors and manufacturers who help us build at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Help lead design, prototyping, and testing of hardware for intelligent building systems, from concept through production
- Turn product requirements into circuit designs, prototypes, and production-ready systems - Manage internal hardware resources and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and contract manufacturers. Work with cloud and software teams so hardware integrates cleanly with our platform - Solve complex design and deployment problems with pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- Own the hardware roadmap and evaluate emerging technologies - Prepare technical documentation and specifications for internal teams and clients.
- Support on-site assessments, client meetings, and launch events as needed
WHAT YOU BRING
- [7+] years of hardware engineering experience, with products taken from concept to rollout
- Hands-on embedded microcontroller development (e.g. Microchip, ARM) - Strong analog and digital circuit design, including power supply design and signal conditioning
- Practical experience with RF design, Bluetooth, RS-485, and network communications
- Proficiency with EDA tools such as Eagle, OrCAD, or similar
- Experience managing timelines, delegating work, and overseeing external contributors
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Valid driver's license
STRONG PLUS (several of these, not all)
- Touchscreen interface design
- SIP-based audio/video, DSPs, or acoustic tech (e.g. microphone beamforming)
- Designing to and certifying against FCC, UL/ULC, and ISED requirements
- SR&ED claims and innovation funding
- Smart home or building automation products
- SIP, VoIP, TCP/IP, or HTTP communications
- Linux or embedded OS environments
- MIFARE/NFC and Bluetooth mobile credentials
- Edge AI hardware (NPU modules, Jetson-class platforms)
- P.Eng. designation
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Competitive salary
- Yearly Bonus*
- Health and dental, vacation, professional development
WHY JOIN US
- Own projects that directly affect how buildings operate
- Shape product strategy and technical direction.
- Build hardware deployed across 1000's residential and commercial properties
LOCATION
