Scope (Purpose)
The Junior Web Developer supports the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of custom web applications that support Conexus Nuclear Inc.’s internal tools, business processes, and operational workflows. Working closely with senior developers and business stakeholders, this role contributes to the delivery of reliable, user-focused software solutions while developing technical skills and gaining experience across the application development lifecycle.
This position focuses on the PHP/Laravel platform, where you will write clean, maintainable code, build and consume RESTful APIs, work with relational databases, and develop both the server-side and front-end components of our applications. It is an ideal opportunity for a junior developer eager to grow in a collaborative environment: you will gain hands-on experience with modern Laravel architecture, version control, and front-end technologies, with mentorship and the room to build on your fundamentals. The successful candidate will bring solid web development basics, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a genuine appetite for learning.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop, test and maintain features for Conexus' proprietary Business Management System and related custom web applications using PHP/Laravel, working from requirements agreed with the IT team.
- Produce functional reports and ensure data integrity for assigned applications, while identifying opportunities for improved performance, reporting efficiency and ease of use.
- Work with end users to understand their requirements and help translate them into technical requirements for application design, including user interface development, modifications and system documentation, in conjunction with the IT team.
General Responsibilities
- Review, analyze and modify existing applications, including coding, testing, debugging and documenting software programs.
- Build responsive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and integrate them with Laravel back-end services.
- Write and consume RESTful APIs, and carry out database queries and schema changes under the guidance of senior developers.
- Contribute to functional and technical design specifications for new features and enhancements to existing systems.
- Document code consistently throughout the development process and follow team standards for version control and code review.
- Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications to existing programs, and share potential enhancement opportunities with the IT team.
- Provide support and problem resolution for computer applications.
- Use judgment in selecting among authorized procedures and seek assistance when unanticipated problems arise.
- Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant web development technologies, frameworks and practices.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of a Linux environment would be a plus.
- Ability to communicate with and interpret the operational requirements of end users.
- Excellent analytical, data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Logical and methodical thinker, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a team environment, share information effectively, and act on feedback from code reviews.
