Job Description –Data Modeler
Domain: Banking / Financial Services
Location: Toronto Canada
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with strong SQL, data analysis, data modeling, and banking domain knowledge. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in KYC, sanctions screening, data mapping, production data analysis, and solution design, with the ability to work closely with Business, Architecture, Development, and QE teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KYC domain, including primary and alternate business scenarios.
- Analyze business requirements and prepare Data Mapping Specifications using TD templates, coordinating stakeholder reviews.
- Review QE test cases and provide data-related feedback and recommendations.
- Understand interim vs. target-state architecture and participate in solution design discussions.
- Drive technical discussions with stakeholders and help reach appropriate solution conclusions.
- Perform hands-on production data analysis, data mining, and data extrapolation based on business scenarios.
- Understand enterprise data models and develop complex SQL queries for data validation and investigation.
- Prepare SQL logic and pseudo-code and hand it over to Development and QE teams.
- Investigate production defects and provide quick, detailed data-driven analysis for business queries.
- Support data security classification, data modeling, and data governance requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge of sanctions screening / AML / KYC processes and related data requirements.
- Author Technical Change Requests (TCRs) and coordinate required leadership approvals.
- Collaborate effectively with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Developers, QE teams, and business stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong KYC / AML / Sanctions Screening domain knowledge.
- Excellent SQL and hands-on data analysis skills.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and data mapping.
- Experience working with production data and data mining.
- Ability to analyze business scenarios and translate them into technical/data requirements.
- Experience with solution design and architecture discussions.
- Strong understanding of data security classification and data governance.
- Experience preparing technical documentation, mapping specifications, and change requests.
- Strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills.
- Banking / financial services experience preferred.
