About the Opportunity
We are providing HR consulting services to a leading public health organization based in Toronto.
To support this project we are seeking an HRIS Wiz who is detail-oriented and has strong hands-on experience in Dayforce and advanced Excel skills. This role requires someone who can confidently navigate HRIS systems, manage employee data, troubleshoot discrepancies, generate reports, and ensure alignment between HR records and payroll. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in Dayforce, understands HR and payroll processes, and can provide reliable day-to-day HRIS and HR operational support.
Key Responsibilities
HRIS Administration & Dayforce Support
- Maintain accurate employee records in Dayforce, including hires, terminations, compensation changes, leaves, and other employee lifecycle transactions.
- Perform hands-on Dayforce transactions, validate system updates, audit records, and generate HR and payroll reports.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve HRIS data discrepancies, system-related issues, and inconsistencies between HR records and payroll.
- Support HRIS data integrity, system audits, reporting requirements, and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot Dayforce-related issues and coordinate with internal stakeholders or system support teams as needed.
- Maintain accurate HR and payroll trackers for approximately 60 employees, ensuring alignment between approved HR changes, Dayforce records, and payroll outputs.
Data Management, Reporting & Payroll Support
- Use advanced Excel functions, including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data validation, and conditional formatting, to reconcile and analyze HR data.
- Prepare and validate HR reports, payroll inputs, and employee data extracts.
- Maintain accurate employee documentation, audit trails, personnel files, and confidential HR records.
- Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and HRIS-related workflows.
HR Operational Support
- Support recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle administration.
- Prepare accurate HR correspondence, including offer letters, employment verification letters, and other templated documents.
- Respond to routine employee inquiries related to HR processes, systems, and policies.
- Provide administrative support for short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and employee leave processes.
- Maintain grievance-related documentation and escalate complex employee relations matters as appropriate.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, including substantial hands-on HRIS responsibilities.
- Strong working proficiency in Dayforce is required, including employee data maintenance, system transactions, auditing, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including lookups, Pivot Tables, data reconciliation, and data quality checks.
- Strong understanding of how HRIS data connects with payroll and employee lifecycle processes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently investigate discrepancies, resolve data issues, and work accurately across multiple systems.
- Strong technical aptitude, analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
- Experience supporting HR operations in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential employee information.
Please note: This is a hands-on HRIS role. Candidates must have practical experience working directly within Dayforce, beyond basic employee self-service or routine system access.
