Original job description

We are currently searching for an ambitious Senior Construction Manager to join our team in Southwestern Ontario. Our ideal candidate has 10+ years experience providing strategic leadership while driving accountability and high performance across Project Management and Field Operations to deliver luxury high-rise residential projects from pre-construction to close-out.

This position will appeal to someone who is passionate about construction and enjoys working closely with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to see their projects come to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and continuously improve construction standards, processes and best practices across office and field operations
Hands-on involvement in all key phases: planning, budgets, schedules, design completion, monthly payments, phased occupancy, and project close out
Direct and oversee all on-site activities from mobilization to completion, maintaining daily progress and enforcing site standards
Drive short and long-term construction planning
Supervise project managers, subcontractors and site staff, run daily check-ins, assign tasks, and ensure work aligns with project drawings and schedules
Track project milestones, prepare short-interval look-ahead schedules, and work closely with project managers to adjust resources as required
Lead the successful delivery of high-rise residential projects from pre-construction through occupancy and close-out, with accountability for budget, schedule, safety, quality and risk
Build a strong bench of sustainable construction talent through coaching, mentorship, succession planning and ongoing development
Oversee key construction functions including staffing, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contracts, cost control, and project delivery
Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, environmental and safety requirements
Maintain key external vendor, consultant, municipal and provincial relationships
Establish and monitor performance benchmarks to continually improve budget, schedule, quality and risk outcomes

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, Construction degree or equivalent experience in Architecture
10+ year’s experience as a Senior Construction Manager of High-Rise Luxury residential buildings and 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager
Prior experience with an owner builder / developer is a strong asset
Deep understanding of site safety, scheduling, and quality assurance
Proven track record for successful/effective leadership and management of others
Proven strategic agility; can easily assume wider and more complex tasks and initiatives
Ability to build strong relationships at all levels (internal/external) stakeholders
Outstanding planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work activities, use time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans
Skilled problem solver with ability to anticipate and manage delays and disruption
Excellent ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, anticipating stakeholder needs while leading and mentoring diverse teams, strong attention to detail
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook
Experience with Project management tools like Microsoft Project / Gantt chart planning tool
