Senior DevOps Engineer

Department: Development - Software Development

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Toronto

Reporting To: Anas Cheriya

Description

Location - Pittsburgh, Boston, Montreal or Toronto, North East US considered

Why Confluence?

At Confluence, we’ve always been driven by a commitment to innovation, precision, and partnership in the investment data space. Our global footprint now spans multiple countries, giving our employees the opportunity to get exposure to other countries and cultures. And it stands to reason that none of this would have been possible without the hundreds of hard-working employees who work at Confluence.

More about the role & team

We are hiring for a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a major platform transformation.

You’ll join a team modernising a core solution, moving from a legacy environment to a cloud first architecture on Azure.

This role is focused on building and scaling the platform that underpins our applications. You’ll design and optimise CI/CD pipelines, deliver infrastructure as code, and enable developers to deploy and operate systems more efficiently and reliably.

You’ll work closely with engineering teams, but your primary focus will be on automation, infrastructure, and deployment processes, rather than building product features.

You’ll be joining at a point where the DevOps foundations are still evolving, so there is real opportunity to shape standards, tooling, and ways of working.

Why should you apply?

Build and scale DevOps foundations, not just maintain them
Cloud first, Azure environment with modern tooling
High ownership across CI/CD, infrastructure, and reliability
Work closely with engineering teams on large scale systems
Opportunity to shape platform standards and practices

What skills and experience do I need to succeed?

Experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform essential)
Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines
Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS also considered)
Experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
Scripting or coding experience (Python, PowerShell or similar)
Understanding of security, compliance, and deployment practices
Comfortable working across infrastructure and development teams

Experience supporting .NET or web based applications
Exposure to hybrid or enterprise environments (cloud and on-prem)
Experience with release strategies such as blue green or canary deployments
Exposure to financial services or data platforms
Experience with modern cloud architecture patterns

What do we offer?

Confluence offers generous benefit packages for team members. As a growing, global organization, we are always looking for ways to ensure that our employees can access benefits that matter to them and their families. This includes:

🕚 Generous Time Off packages including additional half days with each public holiday in your location.

More about the Location

This role will likely be primarily remote, with some office working on occasion. We are hiring in Pittsburgh, Boston, Toronto or Montreal, but will consider those in the north east US. Preference will be shown to those within a commutable distance of the above offices.

If you are applying in the US, please note that we can only consider those who have a Green Card or US citizenship.

Values

We look for people who align with our 4 values.

Integrity

Face reality with honesty, courage and accountability

Imagination

Deal creatively with challenges and envision what the world could be

Discipline

Build good habits into reflexes which become a part of our life

Service

Committed to the success of others
