Original job description

Class 1 Driver (Local Delivery)
Location: Nanaimo, BC
Wage: $33.35/hour (top rate of $34.35/hour)
Schedule: Day shift (10 hour shifts)

Pac Rim Distribution is hiring experienced Class 1 Drivers for local delivery work across on Vancouver Island. This role is best suited for professionals who take pride in their work, value consistency, and prefer staying active throughout the day rather than spending hours behind the wheel alone.

If you’re looking for a hands-on driving role where you’re part of a strong team and build real relationships with customers, this is the opportunity.

About the Role

This is a fully local delivery position operating between the Cowichan Valley and Campbell River, typically involving multi-stop routes (approximately 8-15 stops per day). You’ll be responsible not just for driving, but for completing deliveries end-to-end - ensuring freight is handled safely, efficiently, and professionally at every stop.

Your day will typically involve a mix of:

Palletized deliveries using proper unloading techniques
Hand-cart deliveries directly into customer locations
Regular interaction with customers at delivery points

This is not a drop-and-go position - you’ll be bringing product into customer locations, not leaving it at the curb. It’s a physically active role that requires effort, attention, and professionalism - but in return offers steady work, predictable routes, and a strong sense of ownership over your day.

Equipment & Operations

We invest in our drivers by providing:

A reliable, well-maintained fleet supported by a comprehensive maintenance program
A phased fleet replacement plan, with ongoing upgrades to newer equipment over time
Well-maintained trailers to minimize downtime and mechanical issues
Modern technology such as digital signature capture, electronic DVIRs, and route optimization tools to reduce paperwork and support efficient, well-planned routes

The goal is simple: keep you moving efficiently and focused on the job - not troubleshooting equipment.

What You Can Expect

Competitive compensation - hourly pay, benefits, safe driving bonuses, and overtime opportunities
Consistent, local work - no long-haul or overnight trips
Structured schedules - primarily weekday, daytime operations
Route consistency - build familiarity and strong customer relationships
Active workdays - a mix of driving and physical delivery tasks
Team-oriented environment - drivers are supported, not left on their own

Who This Role Is For

You’ll succeed here if you:

Take pride in being a professional driver, not just a seat-holder
Prefer a physically active role over long idle driving hours
Are comfortable interacting with customers daily
Value routine, structure, and consistency in your work
Understand that efficiency, safety, and service all matter

Requirements

Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Minimum 6 months of Class 1 driving experience
Ability to regularly lift up to 45 lbs
Bondable (able to pass a background check)
Strong communication skills and customer service mindset

About Us

Pac Rim Distribution is the Vancouver Island arms of Commercial Logistics, which is an asset-based carrier providing LTL and FTL service throughout British Columbia. We are a part of ContainerWorld Forwarding Services Inc, and part of the Mullen Group, a publicly traded company on the TSX.

Apply

If this sounds like a fit, we want to hear from you.

Please submit your resume along with your current driver’s abstract.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
