Business Development Manager – Energy & Engineering Staffing

About Contract Professionals

Contract Professionals has more than 30 years of experience providing workforce solutions to the pipeline, energy, construction, inspection, maintenance, and industrial sectors.

We are entering an exciting phase of Canadian growth focused on upstream, midstream, EPCM, fabrication, and construction. Our Canadian operation is a small, agile team supported by leading technology, established infrastructure, and a larger North American team.

We also have agreements in place with several major Canadian owner-operators, providing a strong foundation to revive relationships, reconnect with key stakeholders, and convert underdeveloped accounts into active business.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a well-connected Business Development Manager to help lead our Canadian expansion. This individual will reactivate existing client agreements, establish new relationships, and position Contract Professionals as a trusted workforce partner across Western Canada.

The successful candidate will have the autonomy to help shape our growth strategy while working closely with recruitment, operations, and leadership. The position offers a competitive base salary and uncapped commission based on gross margin.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop and execute a Canadian business development strategy across our target markets.
Revive existing agreements with major owner-operators by reconnecting with stakeholders and identifying current workforce needs.
Develop new client relationships that complement our existing Canadian footprint.
Build relationships with decision-makers across engineering, projects, construction, maintenance, operations, procurement, and human resources.
Identify opportunities related to capital projects, maintenance programs, turnarounds, expansions, and ongoing operations.
Lead prospecting, client meetings, proposals, commercial discussions, and account planning.
Work closely with recruitment and operations to ensure effective delivery and ongoing client satisfaction.
Maintain an active sales pipeline and represent Contract Professionals at industry events and client meetings.

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you bring 5–10 or more years of relevant business development, account management, or industry experience. However, we are flexible and will place significant value on the strength of your network, market knowledge, relationships, and demonstrated results.

Our preferred candidate will have:

Business development or account-management experience within engineering, oil and gas, technical, or industrial staffing.
An established network across Canadian upstream, midstream, EPCM, fabrication, construction, or industrial organizations.
A demonstrated ability to reactivate accounts, secure new clients, and develop profitable relationships.
Experience working with owner-operators, EPCM firms, fabricators, contractors, or industrial service providers.
An understanding of contract staffing, payroll services, permanent recruitment, or workforce solutions.
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
A self-directed and entrepreneurial approach to building and managing a sales pipeline.

Staffing experience is preferred but not essential. We are open to candidates who have built strong relationships while working for an upstream or midstream owner-operator, pipeline contractors, NDE providers, as well as EPCM professionals with a deep understanding of energy projects, clients, and the Canadian market.
