Contract Construction Planner
Our client, a leading energy company is seeking an experienced Contract Construction Planner to support project construction planning and execution at its downstream facility in Lloydminster, SK.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Canadian Downstream Site Projects, this position will ensure construction activities are properly planned, sequenced, resourced, and completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The successful candidate must live in the Lloydminster area, as no living-out allowance will be provided.
Position Details:
Location: Lloydminster
Schedule: Five days per week, eight hours per day
Contract Rate: $94.67–$115.50 per hour
Overtime: May occasionally be required and must be approved in advance
Travel/LOA: No LOA provided; local candidates are required

Key Responsibilities
- Review approved scopes of work and confirm that all required documentation is complete.
- Develop detailed execution plans, including P&ID markups, inspection drawings and tabs, plot plan updates, bills of material, and supporting documentation.
- Create step-out plans in Primavera P6 to support safe and efficient execution.
- Integrate multidisciplinary construction activities into logical sequences and develop comprehensive execution plans.
- Participate in contractor validation reviews, field walks, schedule quality reviews, and optimization sessions.
- Support responses to contractor RFIs and review additional work requests submitted during the planning phase, as assigned by the Lead Planner.
- Assist schedulers with labour levelling across operating units.
- Lead scope reviews, job plan index reviews, scope challenge sessions, and detailed schedule reviews.
- Coordinate with project, procurement, engineering, and construction teams to confirm material readiness and approved work packages.
- Develop contracting strategies and review RFP documentation during contractor selection.
- Monitor construction progress, costs, contractor performance, and schedule adherence.
- Manage added work and maintain bills of material and material master information.
- Identify opportunities to improve construction planning, work packaging, and execution practices.
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- At least eight years of relevant construction, maintenance, planning, or project execution experience.
- Red Seal journeyperson certification, technical diploma, process operations background, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting construction planning and project execution in an industrial, refinery, upgrader, oil and gas, or similar operating environment.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary construction activities and contractor work.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, CMMS platforms, GWAS, or comparable planning and scheduling systems is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction work packages, materials coordination, RFIs, bills of material, field validation, and schedule development.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with engineering, procurement, operations, contractors, and project teams.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record.
Equivalent combinations of relevant education, trade qualifications, operational knowledge, and industry experience may be considered.
Employment Conditions:
