Original job description

Company Description CoolIT Systems is a global leader in advanced liquid cooling solutions for data centers, high-performance computing, and desktop systems. The company partners with major technology providers to deliver efficient, reliable thermal management that reduces energy consumption and supports sustainability goals. CoolIT’s engineering-driven culture focuses on innovation, quality, and performance, providing customers with scalable cooling systems tailored to demanding environments. Team members collaborate across disciplines to solve complex technical challenges and help customers optimize system reliability and efficiency. The company offers opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge hardware solutions in a fast-growing, technology-focused market.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer role based in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area. The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer will design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes for CoolIT’s liquid cooling products, ensuring efficient production, high quality, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating manufacturing documentation, supporting new product introduction, and collaborating with mechanical design, production, and quality teams to resolve issues on the shop floor. The role will involve optimizing machining and assembly operations, conducting root cause analysis for manufacturing defects, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost and lead time. The engineer will also work with CAD models and engineering drawings to translate product designs into robust, scalable manufacturing methods.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Processes, with the ability to design and optimize production workflows.
  • Solid Mechanical Engineering skills for component and system-level understanding, including material selection and design for manufacturability.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for interpreting and creating 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of Machining processes and practices, including tolerancing, tooling, and fixture design for precision manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in hardware or electronics-related industries.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is beneficial.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and support shop-floor teams.
  • Competence in using ERP/MRP systems and basic data analysis tools to monitor and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and good manufacturing practices; experience scaling processes from prototype to volume production is an asset.
