Join our team and help create tailor-made moments for our guests.
We are seeking a Director of Buildings and Infrastructure. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, you will oversee and structure maintenance operations across Corner Collection’s multi-site portfolio, including hotels, restaurants, commercial spaces, and offices leased to third parties. Working closely with General Managers and Maintenance Managers, you will establish priorities and develop consistent practices across the portfolio. You will collaborate with Finance, Technology, and Procurement on budgets, tools, and contracts, while advising the leadership responsible for real estate projects and investments.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
MAINTENANCE AND LEADERSHIP
- Structure preventive maintenance. Organize inspections, schedule maintenance work, and track service requests through to resolution. Contribute to the selection and implementation of a tool to document maintenance activities and monitor their progress.
- Maintain the reliability and quality of our properties. Assess the condition of buildings and equipment, investigate recurring failures, and prioritize repairs and replacements based on risk, cost, and operational impact. Preserve the quality of materials and finishes, as well as the overall guest experience.
- Develop and support maintenance teams. Provide guidance to Maintenance Managers, who report to General Managers, clarify priorities, share your technical expertise, and establish consistent standards across the portfolio.
PROJECTS AND CAPITAL INVESTMENTS
- Drive projects forward. Take ownership of the small- and medium-sized projects assigned to the role, from initial needs assessment through to construction oversight and follow-up. For major projects, serve as the technical resource and advise the leadership team responsible for their execution.
BUDGETS AND INVESTMENTS
- Plan and manage expenditures. Evaluate options and recommend cost savings without compromising safety, reliability, or property quality. Approve expenditures within your delegated authority and prepare recommendations for approval by senior management or property owners.
OPERATIONS, COMPLIANCE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE
- Ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Oversee regulatory inspections, corrective actions, and the proper functioning of safety and access control systems.
- Coordinate service partners and tenants. Liaise with operations teams and tenants occupying commercial and office spaces, while managing vendors and service contracts.
- Improve environmental performance. Identify opportunities to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as waste, and measure the results of implemented initiatives.
- Respond to major emergencies. Remain available outside regular business hours and attend the property when circumstances require. Coordinate repairs, cleanup, documentation, and insurance claims. This availability is included in the overall compensation package; a compensatory rest period may be arranged following an exceptionally demanding intervention.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 10 years of experience in building maintenance, operations, or technical facilities management, including 5 years in team management, supervision, or team development.
- Strong knowledge of building mechanical and technical systems and specialized equipment, along with experience in preventive maintenance, budgeting, vendor management, and construction or maintenance projects. The ability to engage and coordinate the appropriate technical experts is essential.
- A proven ability to motivate and develop teams, including in environments where you do not have direct reporting authority.
- Relevant technical training or equivalent experience. Experience in hospitality, heritage buildings, or complex operating environments is considered an asset.
- Professional proficiency in both French and English is preferred, particularly when communicating with teams, vendors, and business partners.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
- The unique opportunity to work with one of Montreal’s most renowned hospitality groups, recognized both locally and internationally.
- A stylish, upscale work environment just steps away from a metro station in the heart of Old Montreal.
- A competitive compensation package, complemented by an incentive program designed to recognize performance and achievement of objectives.
- A group RRSP with employer contributions, as well as comprehensive group insurance.
- A workplace that encourages a healthy work-life balance.
- Discounted meals at our establishments.
- Numerous opportunities for career advancement and professional growth. As we continue to expand, we want passionate and driven individuals to grow with us.
- Access to an employee recognition program, festive events, and team-building activities.
