Frontend Software Developer
What We Need
Corpay is currently looking to hire a Frontend Software Developer within our Cross-Border division. This position falls under our Corporate Payments line of business and is located in Toronto, ON.
In an agile team, you will build and modernize React and TypeScript interfaces for cross-border payments, foreign exchange, accounts, and risk management. You will improve the usability, accessibility, reliability, and maintainability of an established application.
You will independently deliver scoped UI features while working with Product Owners, designers, QA, and .NET developers. Backend teams build the APIs; you will coordinate on their contracts and turn data, validation, permissions, and failures into clear user workflows. You will contribute to code and design reviews and seek input on larger architecture decisions.
How We Work
As a Frontend Software Developer, you will be expected to work in a hybrid office environment. Corpay will set you up for success by providing:
- Assigned workspace in the Toronto office
- Company-issued equipment
- Hands-on training
- Flexible hybrid working arrangement
Role Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role will include:
- Build and maintain React and TypeScript features for payment, foreign exchange, account, and risk-management workflows.
- Turn requirements and designs into responsive, accessible interfaces with clear forms, tables, navigation, and feedback.
- Integrate with .NET HTTP APIs, coordinate on request and response contracts, and handle authentication, permissions, loading, validation, and error states.
- Present currency amounts, dates, account details, and transaction status accurately, with clear review and confirmation steps for financial actions.
- Develop reusable components using existing Material UI and SCSS patterns while improving shared UI conventions.
- Modernize existing frontend code incrementally by reducing duplication and improving types, component boundaries, state handling, and dependencies.
- Write and maintain Jest and React Testing Library tests for components and user workflows, and investigate defects across the UI and API boundary.
- Use Node.js, npm, and Webpack development and build scripts, and contribute to reliable frontend builds and dependency updates.
- Improve accessibility, localization, cross-browser behavior, and performance using browser developer tools and appropriate measurements.
- Estimate and communicate work, participate in code reviews, and document important frontend decisions.
Qualifications & Skills
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience building frontend web applications.
- Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, including hooks, component design, state management, routing, and forms.
- Strong knowledge of semantic HTML, CSS/SCSS, responsive layouts, browser behavior, and accessible interaction patterns.
- Experience consuming HTTP APIs and JSON, including client-side validation, secure authenticated flows, and useful error handling.
- Working knowledge of Node.js, npm, Webpack, package management, and frontend build workflows.
- Experience testing React components and user behavior with Jest and React Testing Library, or comparable tools.
- Familiarity with Git, pull requests, code review, and continuous integration.
- Ability to debug browser issues and improve performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Experience with Material UI, Recoil or Redux, and Formik/Yup is helpful for working in our existing application; expertise in every library is not required.
- A product-oriented mindset and a desire to understand the user problem behind each feature.
- Attention to detail in financial workflows, especially amounts, dates, status, validation, and recovery from errors.
- Ability to own scoped UI work while collaborating on larger technical and design decisions.
- Sound judgment when improving established applications incrementally rather than relying on wholesale rewrites.
- Commitment to usability, accessibility, maintainable code, and useful automated tests.
- Clear communication with Product Owners, designers, QA, and backend developers about requirements and tradeoffs.
- Curiosity about frontend technologies and a practical approach to adopting them.
