Reporting to the Senior Officer, Urban Acute & Primary Care Operations the Site Shift Manager provides site-wide operational and clinical leadership across all patient care units at the Misericordia Community Hospital during non-regular business hours. As the sole onsite leader, the incumbent exercises independent judgment and decision-making to address operational challenges, support staff and maintain safe, quality patient care. The role provides leadership and coaching for in-scope staff while overseeing resource utilization, bed allocation and patient flow. Working collaboratively with charge nurses, admitting, Emergency, bed coordinators and the staffing office, the Site Shift Manager coordinates patient movement, evaluates site capacity and reallocates beds and staffing as required. As the initial point of contact for urgent site issues, the incumbent assesses and coordinates responses to critical incidents, including major emergencies and threats to site operations, escalating to on-call and Zone leadership as appropriate. The role has the authority to resolve site-wide operational concerns, close beds, adjust staffing and approve overtime to support safe and effective operations. This is a non-unionized position.

Required Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Nursing or another health-related discipline. Current registration with a regulated healthcare professional body. Minimum of five years of experience in a complex acute care hospital setting, including at least three years of leadership experience
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Level C certification. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with technology and Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to independently lead teams, make difficult decisions and manage competing operational priorities. Proven ability to motivate, support and guide teams in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Public Health Leadership or Business. Experience at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital or Misericordia Community Hospital, particularly in Emergency Department operations, bed management or patient allocation, would be an asset.
