As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and reliable Security Systems Technician to join our team.
The Security Systems Technician will be responsible for installing, programming, servicing, troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining a variety of security and low-voltage systems at residential, commercial, industrial, and other customer sites.

What You'll Do- Install, program, configure, test, repair, and service electronic security systems and equipment.
- Install and service video surveillance, access control, intrusion alarm, intercom, and entry systems.
- Install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling and network connections.
- Read and interpret drawings, floor plans, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and project specifications.
- Configure cameras, NVRs, VMS platforms, access control hardware, alarm panels, and other security devices.
- Commission new systems and complete system testing to verify proper operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment, wiring, network, and programming issues and identify appropriate solutions.
- Respond to service calls and complete repairs, system upgrades, replacements, and preventative maintenance.
- Work with project managers and coordinators to ensure installations are completed according to project requirements and schedules.
- Communicate professionally with customers while on site and provide basic system training when required.
- Identify additional customer requirements and communicate potential opportunities to the appropriate team member.
- Complete work orders, service reports, photographs, labour entries, material records, and other required documentation accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at customer sites and in company vehicles.
- Work with other technicians and team members to resolve technical issues.
- Stay current with security technologies, equipment, software, and installation practices.
- Follow company health and safety policies, procedures, and applicable workplace requirements.
- Represent Covert Security Solutions professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required.
Technical ExperienceThe successful candidate should have experience with, or be comfortable learning, a variety of security technologies and systems, including:
- IP and analog video surveillance systems.
- Network video recorders and video management systems.
- Access control systems and related door hardware.
- Intrusion and alarm systems.
- Intercom and entry systems.
- Network switches, routers, and basic networking equipment.
- Structured and low-voltage cabling.
- Remote access and cloud-based security platforms.
- System programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
- Basic networking concepts, including IP addressing, connectivity, and troubleshooting.
Experience with specific manufacturers and platforms is considered an asset.
Qualifications- 7+ years of experience as a Security Systems Technician, Low Voltage Technician, Alarm Technician, Telecommunications Technician, Electrician, or in a related technical role.
- Experience installing, programming, servicing, and troubleshooting security systems.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage systems, cabling, and basic networking.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Professional and respectful approach when dealing with customers.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple service calls and project requirements.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying site conditions when required as part of the job duties.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Ability to complete accurate service documentation and work orders.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and ability to learn company software and systems.
Physical RequirementsThe position involves physical activities associated with security system installation, service, and maintenance, including:
- Must be able to safely lift, carry, and handle equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) as part of the regular duties of the position.
- Working from ladders and performing work at heights when required.
- Working in residential, commercial, industrial, construction, and other customer site environments.
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and working in various positions as required to complete job duties.

Eligibility & Employment Requirements- A valid BC Security Worker Licence, or eligibility to obtain one, may be required depending on the duties and responsibilities of the position.
