Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer (5+ years) – Remote

Pay: CA$160,000.00 - CA$220,000.00 per year

Job description:

Cowan Litigation is a commercial litigation boutique focused on high-quality work for a select group of clients and referral partners, not high volume. Our files include shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual disputes, lease disputes, and real estate litigation, as well as construction and franchise disputes.

The role

You’ll be the primary lawyer on your files from intake through resolution. You’ll work directly with clients and run matters end to end, and you’ll have colleagues to think through strategy with, because good litigation is rarely a solo exercise.

We advocate hard for our clients without sharp practice, bullying, or needless adversarial posturing. We see ourselves as problem-solvers first. Our goal is the best outcome for the client, reached efficiently and at a high professional standard.

What we offer

• An almost fully remote position. In-person attendance is needed only sometimes for things like court and occasional client meetings at our Toronto or Vaughan office.
• A billable target of 1,500 hours.
• Compensation of $160,000–$220,000.
• Experienced clerk and support staff.
• Interesting, substantive commercial work.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of commercial litigation experience in Ontario.
• Licensed with the Law Society of Ontario, in good standing.
• Comfort running files independently, including client management, pleadings, examinations, motions, and mediation.
• Strong judgment, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Experience in construction or franchise litigation is an asset.
