Position details

Title: Entry Level Consultant (Canada Focus)

Status: Full-time, permanent (new)

Location: Based at one of Canadian offices (Ottawa, ON; Toronto, ON; Montreal, QC)

Travel: Occasional domestic travel is possible for team meetings, client engagements, and professional development opportunities

Annual salary range: CAD $ 72,215

Who we are

CPCS is a group of collaborative, fun, and dedicated infrastructure advisors working across the transportation and energy sectors. We are focused on shaping the development of infrastructure because the world depends on good infrastructure to function. And good infrastructure can look like this:

Connecting people to family, work, healthcare, education, and more through safe, and reliable transit.
Creating access to clean sources of energy in countries where access is not commonplace, opening opportunities for the use of healthcare and education technologies.
Making better use of existing transport infrastructure through policy or regulatory solutions to reduce congestion.

Our mission is exactly this: Finding the better solution to any given transportation, energy, and infrastructure challenge or opportunity that ultimately affects peoples’ day-to-day lives. Our purpose is clear: Better infrastructure solutions = Better lives. By joining a global employee-owned management consulting firm, you’ll tackle big challenges that shape economies and communities worldwide.

Headquartered in Canada with offices around the world, our 200+ CPCSers have completed over 1,800 projects in 120 countries. On any given day, we could be strategizing ways to reduce road congestion, helping governments modernize their energy sectors, or solving freight transportation challenges. If you thrive on intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration, you’ll find your place at CPCS.

The opportunity

Launch your career in management consulting while making a meaningful impact.

This role is for someone who has a knack for discovering patterns, storytelling, and communicating findings. With us, you’ll work on challenging projects, turning ideas and data into clear, compelling visual solutions. As an entry level Consultant Cartographer, you’ll inform transportation planning studies and enable our clients to make better decisions, communicate findings in public reports, drive policy or program changes, and inform infrastructure investments.

You’ll join our Young Professionals Program (YPP), an immersive learning experience managed by our Growth and Operations (GO) team. This program offers hands-on exposure to different areas of our business, allowing you to contribute to local, national, and international projects while sharpening your consulting expertise.

Your responsibilities

As part of our dynamic team, you’ll contribute to key aspects of the project lifecycle under the leadership of GO’s Vice President, with a focus on the transport sector. You will work on projects and business development across CPCS, with a focus on the Canadian Division activities. The Canadian Division leads projects across transportation and infrastructure economics with a focus on Canada. This includes projects such as: intercity rail and public transit planning and feasibility analysis; ports and marine sector economic impact and competitiveness studies, and goods movement planning. After completing the Young Professional Program, you are expected to continue your career at CPCS with the Canadian team.

In this role, you will:

Support business development, including preparation of proposals
Carry out sectoral analyses using quantitative data and qualitative reviews of the best Canadian and international practices
Assist with project management and implementation
Support adaptation of analyses into recommendations
Liaise with project teams, partner firms and clients
Engage in internal networking to build relationships and advance your development

What you bring to the team

A bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, finance, engineering, business law, geography, urban planning, or a closely related field is required. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Experience or interest in consulting, research, policy or other relevant roles
Experience or interest in learning about Canadian transportation policy making
Interest or experience in learning about challenges in the transport and/or energy sector
Leadership experience acquired through school, work or community involvement
Fluency in English is required; French is an asset
Technically skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability and willingness to travel within Canada as required, conditions permitting
The legal right to work in Canada and the ability to obtain in a reasonable timeframe a reliability status security clearance from the Government of Canada (sponsorship is not provided for this role)

We're looking for someone who

Wants to evolve in the infrastructure sector
Is highly organized
Can manage and prioritize multiple tasks under tight timelines
Excels in strategic and critical thinking
Brings strong analytical and quantitative skills and contributes to data-driven decision-making
Can work independently and within teams
Welcomes coaching and feedback

Support for you, professionally and personally

We’re not just about work - we’re about growth, impact, and meaningful connections.

Professional growth: We support your growth at CPCS and professional development by providing training, coaching, mentorship and regular feedback.

Meaningful connection: We believe in engaging collaboratively with passionate, diverse and motivated clients, team members and stakeholders to understand various viewpoints.

Greater impact: We believe in helping infrastructure leaders make more impactful decisions. Everything we do seeks to enable positive economic, social and environmental impacts.

Competitive compensation: We offer all team members competitive base salaries along with a benefits package that includes superior health and wellness programs. You could be eligible to receive a performance-based bonus. With time and proven excellence, you may be invited to become a company shareholder and benefit from company dividends and profit sharing. We also believe in offering flexible work arrangements and ample, defined time off.
