Tasks
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Instruct apprentices
- Supervise other workers
- Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
- Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster
- Clean and prepare surfaces
- Cure freshly plastered surfaces
- Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
- Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
- Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
- Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
- Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
- Estimate costs and materials
- Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages

Responsibilities
Read blueprints and specifications, prepare surfaces, apply and smooth plaster and joint compound, tape and sand seams, and install corner beads and wire mesh. Estimate costs and materials, instruct apprentices, and supervise a team of 3–4 workers while working at heights when required.
Requirements
Requires 2 to less than 3 years of experience; no degree, certificate, or diploma is required. Candidates must be willing to relocate and able to perform physically demanding, repetitive work, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
