Chief Executive Officer
Our client is an established charity in southwestern Ontario dedicated to ensuring children and youth have equitable access to nutritious food. Each school year, they provide over two million meals to approximately 100,000 students.
A well-funded organization, our client has an approximate budget of $2 million, receives over 40% government funding and has a robust fund development program. Additionally, it is governed by a strong Board of Directors.
As a well-established, community-based organization, our client is seeking to build on a strong history of improving access to nutritious food for children and youth. The board of directors is recruiting a new CEO.
Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Directors / Board, the Chief Executive Officer is a full-time role, responsible for the overarching administration and performance of this organization, as well as the execution of the Strategic Plan in support of its Mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive leadership over functional departments including, marketing and fundraising, operations, program delivery, and volunteers, to ensure both day to day operations are performing to requirements and longer term tactical and strategic imperatives of the organization are in place and being executed
- Oversee fundraising, marketing, and communications to ensure organization goals are met in accordance with strategic plans and the needs of the community.
- Identify the resource or programming needs across the region and develop clear concise business plans, cost justifications and timelines
Human Resources & Operations
- Lead, coach, mentor, and evaluate the team, setting clear expectations and fostering growth and development, accountability, and high performance
- Monitor, review and establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions related to operations, including Warehouse, Procurement, Delivery, Distribution and Health and Safety
- Implement and monitor all programs that carry out the Mission and Strategic plan of the organization
- Maintain metrics and KPI’s for the critical aspects of the organization
Fundraising & Marketing
- Actively engage and participate in fundraising and funding development campaigns
- Serve as spokesperson to the media/constituents and government
- Continuously enhance the image of the organization by being visible, active and collaborative within the organization’s community
- Oversee departmental leadership including warehouse and delivery operations, programs and volunteers, fundraising, finance, marketing and communications to ensure organizational goals are met in alliance with strategic plans and the needs of the schools across the Region
Finances
- Ensure that an annual budget is prepared and measured against throughout the fiscal year
- Develop and optimize the utilization of financial resources to ensure the ongoing stability of the organization, including planning and oversight of the annual budgeting and finance activities
Governance
- Communicate all pertinent information effectively, openly, and accurately, and in a structured manner to assist the Board in making informed decisions
- Work closely with and report to Board of Directors, seeking their input in policy decisions, fundraising and promotion of the organization
- Oversee organization of board and committee meetings
- Maintain a good working relationship and communication with the Board
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all required audits
- Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory requirements
What you bring to this role
- Seasoned leadership skills: demonstrated transparent, high integrity leadership approach with developed executive skills; 5-10 years of senior leadership experience, in a not-for-profit organization
- A team builder with a record of overseeing effective and cohesive functional management
- Successful track record in fundraising and revenue diversification, including donor stewardship and relationship-based development as well as building positive relationships with community partners. Track record of fund development with governments, corporations and individual donors
- Strategic thinker who can articulate a vision and build trusted relationships
- Proven financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, audited financial statements, funder reporting, and internal controls
- Strong relationship builder with organization influencers, funders, partner agencies, including government agencies, and volunteers
- Experience working with a Board of Directors
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated
- Strong oral, written and communication skills including comfortable in public speaking and presenting to large groups
- Experience with technology, specifically social media
- Must provide a Police Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening Check
- Education: University degree in a related discipline

- Compensation range of $150,000 – $170,000 commensurate with experience
