Original job description

Communications Director
Hybrid: 3 days in office (Yonge & Bloor)
Duration: 2+ months, approx 37 hrs/week
Starts: September /October 2026
Rate: $60-70/hr.

Our professional services client is looking for an Interim Director of Communications for a 2+ month contract. This role is hybrid, onsite 3 days/week.

Responsibilities:
- Strengthen the organization's reputation by actively engaging with members, students, business leaders, and key external stakeholders.
- Lead strategic communications initiatives and craft concise, compelling, and audience focused content across a variety of channels.
- Work closely with marketing, events, and digital teams to execute integrated campaigns and deliver measurable, impact driven results.
- Collaborate with internal partners to plan and execute complex, multi channel communication programs.
- Support corporate communications efforts by contributing to strategies that shape discussions on issues vital to the organization and the future of the profession.
- Bring the organization's Purpose, Values, and culture to life through engaging internal communications.
- 60% external communications and 40% internal communication.

Qualifications:
- Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; graduate degree an asset.
- 10+ years' experience in senior communications roles, ideally in regulatory, professional services, or member based environments.
- Proven ability to deliver multi channel, multi stakeholder communication strategies.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, including executive messaging and briefing materials. Must be willing to be hands on for copywriting plus review, edit, and guide Jr. team members.
- Experience leading external communications and applying change management principles.
- Highly organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
