Original job description

WHY JOIN CRITICAL ENVIRONMENT?

Help us make safer air available everywhere

Critical Environment Technologies (CET) is the largest independent commercial gas-detection manufacturer in North America. We design, manufacture, and service gas-detection systems that integrate with HVAC and building automation and controls systems across commercial, institutional, municipal, and industrial applications - from parking facilities and refrigeration plants to arenas, wineries, swimming pools, and water-treatment facilities.

Our products are used across every US state and Canadian province and in more than 20 countries. Continued investment in research and development keeps our equipment and our people at the leading edge of a rapidly evolving industry.

Our mission, Safer Air Everywhere, has never been more important. It guides how we develop products, serve customers, protect the environment, and work together.

We’re a growing, collaborative team where people are encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and make a meaningful impact. Our culture is built around five straightforward values:

Stay curious.

Give a sh*t about our work and each other.

Get things done.

Maintain a positive attitude.

Act with integrity.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for an Application Engineer to work in our Customer Success Team in Delta.

We are looking for a smart, articulate Application Engineer capable of designing Gas Detection systems for condo towers, arenas, breweries, and everything in between. Your job will be to review engineering plans, understand the application, design systems, create drawings & submittal packages, and then support the customer through installation. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with Gas Detection; just bring your engineering mindset and desire to learn and we will get you trained up.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Review plans & project specifications received from customers
Design Gas Detection systems for a wide variety of applications & prepare quotes for customers
Create project drawings quotes & submittals packages for dealers and engineers
Provide post-sale technical & installation support for projects you design
Share insights with the broader CET team and provide input on product direction

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES YOU WILL BRING:

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to present to a group in person and/or virtually

WHAT WE OFFER:

An opportunity to make an outsized contribution along with a great team and company culture

Paid sick days

If you’re looking for a place where your work matters and where you can contribute to a small team doing meaningful work, we encourage you to apply. We look forward to learning more about you.

Please note that this job posting is intended for BCIT co-op students.
